Who decides the "hot topics" to the right on the main page?
Just wondering, because it's not the previous X posts, the posts with the most replies, highest rating, etc...

It seems to be when a thread gets about 400 views within a certain amount of time. The number of replies in the thread may have an effect too.

It is automated. The parameters change every so often.
