This is probably not the best time to replace windows, but it is the best time to pick-up a few if your old windows need replacement. Lowe's have a few models on clearance up to 75% off. For example, 96x48 originally $222 now $55.5. 36x48 originally $116 now $29. You can't buy glass for that price. There are other sizes but the discount is not as large. If you need windows of these sizes, it is not a bad idea to save a few in the garage.

Diane, the Lowes website wouldn't admit to even knowing what a "Slider" was using the stock #'s so it looks as if a store visit is the way to go. I miss the days when I could actually look up windows online!

These are new windows not replacement windows. Thus the "new construction" part of the item description in the pics. But still a great price!

Just be careful what you buy, based solely on measurement. Note that the OP's pics all say "New Construction"...
Definition: Windows for additions or other new structures. These windows may also be used if existing house involves such major renovations that walls are being stripped down to the studs. These windows come in set sizes only and are widely available off the rack at home improvement stores. They come in vinyl or wood. (about.com [about.com])
The new construction window is not to be confused with the replacement window [about.com].

No wonder Lowes does this promotion, the market leader Microsoft also reported slow growth in the sale of Windows to new installations. I hope one day they will realize there are other alternatives

What does "new construction" have to do with anything? If the measurements are the same as your existing windows, you should be able to have the replaced. Maybe not by Lowes, but a window installer.

Can you at least give us a brand or something, were they Anderson or Pella or what? I don't know if it's standard or not, but I noticed that they say high altitude. Those particular ones might be very YMMV.

It has a lot to do with it. Replacment windows have a square frame all around and are designed to slide into a wooden frame on older windows. You pop out the sash and slide a replacement into the original outer stops from the inside of the house.

A new construction window has a flange, and is designed to be installed from the outside of the house. You nail into the outside flange and tape over that. If you had an windo with an inside opening width of 28", the replacement window would be 27" wide possibly, and the flange on the new construction would be maybe 33" wide, yet they would be both for the same opening, depending on application.
