http://archive.slickde When it's a Dell deal, just move on, because we all know it is going to get canceled. |

I got mine in the past deal ($200 coupon). I received it yesterday, and so far so good... had windows reinstalled with minimal software, but it still has a few HP things. I'm planning on installing a clean copy of Win7 Pro (I get it free from my school). Maybe dual boot it later with Ubuntu or OSX. For $550AR, it seems like a pretty good deal. I just hope it lasts, since the reason I got in the first place is because my 4yr old dv6500's graphics card and screen decided to kick the can (yup, the NVidia thing). Horrible quality on the dv6500, but this dv6 -seems- to be built better.
I haven't done much testing, but it runs S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl with Complete Mod 2009 all maxed out at about 30fps average on 1366x768 (native) resolution. If set to 1024x768, it runs about 10fps faster. Mind: that is around the beginning of the game. |

BestBuy has a Asus with a i7/5870 for $830 but it's 17.3"... this is a monster. I bet it will be on sale somewhere else for about nine bills with a 1080P screen. |

http://forum.notebookr The reason why I mention the ASUS is it is the best bang for the buck (at 829 or even 900) for playing games. And if you don't play games... this HP deal is worthless cause you can get similar specs without a dedicated GPU. And how long do you think the battery life is when playing games? I think less then 2 hours. |
