I agree with what you've said so far. Unfortunately, it's like everything else: where do you start? With guns, you had ridiculous opposition to change from the NRA, plus the people that love to cite their "right to bear arms". It's a hard battle.

It's unfortunate things like this happen and it's not enough that we only talk about it once a tragedy has happened. We need to extend the conversation beyond guns to even things like mental health care. I've been watching as info has come in about this kid and he was under an incredible amount of stress and he basically just snapped. It doesn't excuse his actions, but we need to learn from it. Gun control is just part of what we need to learn.

Drugs are illegal. Drunk driving is illegal. Has that stopped, or even curtailed, either one? No. And making guns illegal won't stop them either. You say it should be illegal to carry them off your own property. Who's going to enforce that? How? Post a guard at every driveway around the clock? Who's going to pay for that enforcement? Taxpayers? We're already in so much debt that we can't even pay for enforcement of the current laws.

Banning guns is a kneejerk reaction that has no basis in reality and stands not one iota of actually working. Fight for your freedoms, even if it's a freedom you don't particularly care for. Otherwise, it'll be something you do want that gets taken away next.

Don't know if anyone here has seen the 'Bowling for Columbine' documentary...I do remember the astronomical number of deaths that the US has from guns each year in comparison to European countries where handguns are illegal. The US is clearly the highest in deaths, I think it averages something like 89 per day. And, the comparisons were so ridiculous...like tens of thousands here and then like single digits and teens over there.

Like many of you have said, it's so ingrained in the US culture....I honestly don't know what the answers are. Probably it's some sort of multifaceted approach. But, I do think that clearly there is a problem if so many people are dying.

Slipped out to Publix tonight....they told me before (and a few times) they were out of the Hawaiian sub bread. The deli lady claimed that there was none in the back or they'd be out there.

Well, another lady overheard me and she said "I'm going to go check for you to be sure". Of course, she came back with two boxes that were filled. And, they had them in the back all along! I swear, that store just does not want people to get the deals. Unfortunately I only have one coupon, so got one pack for free. I almost bought a couple for a $1 after the PQ, however I have so much bread already at home and no space in the fridge or freezer. Not thrilled that they had them there all along though....I had already bought some other brand hamburger buns earlier in the weeks. Sigh.

I could go over and ask in the Tech Forum but I figure we have our own Publix Tech Specialists so why bother!!

So we finally got a wireless printer. (DH toy) We now have 4 printers in our house! UGH - More ink!! I have coupons.com loaded on my iPhone and can print coupons to the HP wireless printer with it. But here is my question - - Can you print Bricks? If so, how do you print a second one as there is no "back" button per se?

You can only print via the coupons.com app (which will load again after you print 1x and you can print your second Q).

Oh, trust me, I'll be doing a happy dance if they ever let us print from outside the coupons.com app! At least it keeps my printing down on the HP and I do the majority of everything on my Canon that has cheapo ink!

I hope they understand the competition there... HT is huge and so is Lowes Foods. Both HT and Lowes Foods have triple coupons (coupons up to 99¢ tripled) and super double coupons (coupons up to $2 doubled) on an occurring basis. HT doubles to 99¢ all the time (unless it's triples or super doubles) limit 20 Qs per day (controlled by a loyalty card). I haven't shopped a Lowes Foods yet.

I want the stores in Knoxville to open already so that Ank220 and cawoodkid can join us here.

Obviously they are well aware of HT as they are already sharing that market with HT in their Charleston, SC stores. HT has been marginal on the stockmarket especially second quarter. One difference is that HT has 200 stores or so and is Public and Publix has 1100 stores and is Private. They must think they can claim a share of that grocery dollar.
