Thread Details

The PUBLIX thread is IMHO the best grocery store thread around heart
Here's a little chat area for us all to share info, recipes, rant's, raves and whatever else we want without clogging up the regular weekly deals thread for PUBLIX. If we want to share super deals we find in other stores or whatnot that's ok too heart

I think we all are such a great family that it's a good to have our own special place Grouphug

You can post basically anything you like in here but let's keep deals info in the actual PUBLIX thread. All are welcome and basically no major rules except be kind and courteous of other's and treat each other with respect. Other than that let's all have some fun! Also you don't have to shop at PUBLIX to share in the chat or whatnot... we like everyone.

So after reading that gem of a story, this article [msn.com], which appears on the bottom right of the page, caught my eye.

Roll Roll Roll

I've seen groupons and such for Brazilian waxes...wonder when there'll be one for pejazzling? Somehow I think I might have a hard time convincing DH to try it... Teehee

That is toooooooo funny!!

Reps are back...for now. Stick Out Tongue I owe loads of gratitude to everyone that got me where I am! Read the *NEW* CVS FAQ and post your questions there. Let's keep the deal threads deal-related, please.
Would it kill you to read the wiki? Or to read the thread? All the experts got to where they are by reading...you can too.

Okay, so apparantly I am claustrophobic.

Went today for 2 MRIs and freaked out. I'm not a small person, so it made it that much more constricting - the machine was squeezing my shoulders and then my hands down onto my tummy. I felt like I was in a giant bear hug and couldn't escape - and that is not a fun feeling.

So, they rescheduled me for tomorrow for an open MRI. Not sure how that will work - it's wider on the sides, but apparantly still the same "height" (about an inch from my nose) - le sigh!

Ugh - MRIs are the worst! The open laying down MRIs [wordpress.com] do have a tight point, but are still a big improvement.

The best are the upright MRIs [mriupright.com] though. My dad has vertigo and those are the only kind he uses. It's like being strapped in for a roller coaster! Smilie

Hope all is okay! hug

That open MRI is different than the one I'm going to - I think I'd like THAT one better!!

The one I'm going in isn't exactly "open" - it's roomier side-to-side. Pic here [partnersimage.com]

My issue started with a painful lump in my armpit. Both PCP and OB said it was just a swollen lymph node. Then it went on to contractions in my left side rib cage area - for lack of a better term (way worse than spasms). They were so severe when they first started I thought I was having a heart attack. No I have a constant dull pain in my chest, about 1/2 way between my collar bone and my breast. My left arm also goes numb ALOT and is not so quick to wakeup. My PCP thinks I have a pinched nerve.

I've already had an u/s and x-rays - now on to this MRI thing. I've only had 1 prior - and that was on my foot and I went in feet first up to my knee. I've never been known to be claustrophobic, although I don't like being restrained (or constrained if you will). When DH and I were first married, he was horsing around with me and grabbed my leg and wouldn't let go. After repeated asking him to let my leg go, I kicked him in the face with the other one. It was more of a knee-jerk reaction than anything else.

Anyhoo, we'll see what tomorrow brings.

I emailed them about it but I don't have high hopes. I have photos of the form/upc but of course no postmark photo.

Maybe it was just a computer glitch, here's hoping.
I totally think what Kellogg's is doing is sleazy. I hate companies who can't stick to their word on things. Sigh. I do know plenty of people who did recycling bins and such for the UPCs. I'll bet they didn't count on the response.

Thanks! hug I'm sorry to hear about the stress you're dealing with. I hope things get better for you soon. If you do end up being pregnant, I'm sure it will be a wonderful thing in spite of all that's going on in your life. nod
I try to keep it in mind that I could be going through much worse stuff. Like what happened to my brother and his family a couple of years ago. That stuff is real tragedy. As far as my stress, the one thing I am concerned about is that I don't take very good care of myself when I'm stressed. I wind up somehow having more tunnel vision when there is stuff going on. I'm also not sleeping well. I may have lost some weight, but likely not in a good way.

But babies are wonderful. I loved nearly all things about pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, babyhood! I am sure you're looking forward to all of that too! I think though, the more on my own I feel like I want to do stuff. Not sure though how everything would go now that I'm an 'older mom'. Chances are though, nothing is going to come of this. I think at my age, having an 'accident' is less likely! Though, my mom would be the first to tell me I was her 'happy accident' when she was 37 LOL.

Hope it turns out to be something that's easily treatable and you can get rid of all of that pain! That sounds so debilitating!

39 herewave and 35w3d pregnant, so don't discount too much the possibility. I admit, though, it was much more difficult, more stressful this time around than the other 3, when it seemed to be I thought of it and it happened.

Am I the only one liking these slightly longer ads? Gives me more time to be disorganized before I get myself together.

If I could ask a favor - if anyone sees a good deal on Nescafe Classico instant coffee in the next week or so, please post and let me know. I've got Nescafe coupons which are nearly impossible to ever find - cheered when I saw them a couple of months ago - and haven't seen a sale price since. I hate when I let good coupons expire Frown

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!! TGIF!!!!

Awww! It's funny, but DH was actually (don't ask me how) kind of sounding happy in a way when I told him my cycle was acting crazy. Yeah, kids are a lot of work, etc. but there is just flat out so much joy involved! Four is a lot of drama. Five would be...well...just a little bit more chaos I think I would just aim for simpler living. When I've talked about another baby before my oldest is like *no, no* LOL....so funny. She's very loving to the youngest one though, and really enjoyed having him around when he was a baby. So I think she's all talk...laugh out loud

Complain for me too please.

While you're at it, ask WHY Tampa is the golden haired child?
I got a CALL from Publix corporate today. I have got to start paying better attention to names though (when I answer an unrecognized call, I'm usually expecting to hang up immediately since it's almost always a wrong number)...I think his name was Wayne. If not, well, we'll just go with it anyways.

According to Wayne, the gas card deal is very expensive for P to run. They get some funding from Shell, Chevron etc, but not nearly enough to actually pay for it. So, they are trying to figure out how to keep the deal going and be able to offer it frequently since gas is such a hot item for consumers, while keeping costs down. Hence, AL and other areas getting hosed on the deal this week, in an effort to test various offers and gauge the response.

He said there's even one small area that only has a $5 gas q this week! Bigeye

He said P ran the gas card 5 times last year, and initially had plans to run it even more frequently this year...they are using this test to figure out what price point(s) they can afford on it.

I asked him specifically about Tampa and the recent bout of $2 PQ's in the Sunday papers (meat, produce, etc), and he said he wasn't a part of that campaign and couldn't answer specifically, but figured it was based on competition in the area and folks having a wider variety of stores to shop at, so P does those to get folks in the door. I asked if something like that might ever come to B'ham but then said if it's competition based, all we have is WD and their prices are higher than yours, so we'll never see something like that; he said "well, WD does make it easy for us!". So true!!!! laugh out loud

He wouldn't tell me when or where, but he did say an AmEx deal is coming soon. Better not be regional...

Great insight, thanks for reaching out to them and filling us in. It would be a shame if they have to do to the gas card deals what they did to the AmEx deals. $10/$50 GC with a $25 purchase requirement is a great deal, and very doable. $5 off, or a $50 purchase requirement, not so much. Kind of like how $10/$50 Amex cards with no purchase requirements was great, but now $10/$100 with a $25 purchase requirement (not to mention the activation fee) is pretty blah to me.

Thanks for coming back to fill us in - that's great customer service from Publix! Last time we had the gas card, we had 10/50, now 10/25, so I see where they are playing with their formulas. We have little competition in S. Florida too - WD and Sedanos - so I'm very surprised that they also have the Spring Cleaning Sale $5/30 coupon active at the same time.

so was the open MRI better for you? That type is the only type I fit in.

When will you know any results?

OMG - it was SO much better!! Never again will I consciously have a regular MRI!! I was a little anxious going into the room because of the previous day's episode, but the tech kept assuring me I would not feel claustrophobic at all. She even suggested me putting my arms above my head when she put on that thing that goes over the area to be MRI'd, so I wouldn't feel constrained - what a blessing she was!!

I have a 4:45p Wed appointment to find out the results. I'm actually hoping they find *something* because this pain is depressing. All I did today was carry a very full laundry basket from point A to point B and my "wing" (what I call where the armpit connects to your chest) and chest wall are k-i-l-l-i-n-g me!

ETA: DH won the grand prize trip to Balloons over Paradise in Immokalee last week. We went yesterday. Two hour drive down there (got there around 1pm) only to find NO hot air balloons. Apparantly it was too windy for them to even setup, so they all packed up & left. So, we walked around the hot, dry, dusty, Immokalee airport, listening to some jazz singer who was done in 20minutes. Ate lunch in the VIP tent (finger foods). Went to the kids play area (around 2:30) and they were closing everything up. After telling them we practically just got there, they let my daughters jump in the bounce house for about 10 minutes before kicking them out to pack it up. DD wanted ice cream & DH wanted deep fried cannoli (yuck), so he high-tailed it over to those two vendors and they were both shut already. This was around 2:55pm. Had to stop at CVS in Immokalee to get ice cream so she'd stop crying.

Two hour drive home. I awoke at 3:40 this morning with food poisoning which I'm attributing to the chicken salad sandwiches we ate (since that's the ONLY thing I ate). DH ate it too and he has it as well. Kids ate Roast Beef sandwiches and are fine.

Yay!
