Thread Details

The PUBLIX thread is IMHO the best grocery store thread around heart
Here's a little chat area for us all to share info, recipes, rant's, raves and whatever else we want without clogging up the regular weekly deals thread for PUBLIX. If we want to share super deals we find in other stores or whatnot that's ok too heart

I think we all are such a great family that it's a good to have our own special place Grouphug

You can post basically anything you like in here but let's keep deals info in the actual PUBLIX thread. All are welcome and basically no major rules except be kind and courteous of other's and treat each other with respect. Other than that let's all have some fun! Also you don't have to shop at PUBLIX to share in the chat or whatnot... we like everyone.

...but got most scenarios under $5, which is good enough for me for things that either I can use or someone in the family can use (coffee, detergent, tissues, cat food, creamer, Lipton).
I'm continuously amazed by all the super low $$ totalsworshipworship

...I knew there was a referral buried in there someplace, but I didn't know it was that good. I haven't ordered it in a long time because we get such great deals on coffee at Publix, but I will most certainly think which "link I click" if I order it down the road. Don't even let me start about magazine subscriptions . . . . .
I first read about this in reference to mommy blogs and all the things they got for free - toys, clothes, TRIPS TO DISNEY!!!!. I was so jealousSmilie I considered blogging - there aren't many focused on this area (or Hispanics who coupon), but it's a full-time time investment and I've got a FT job and a full house. I still wish someone paid for a trip to disney!

Do any of you happen to knit? I need a new craft thing to take on and I bought a hook & yarn from Joann's yesterday with a coupon to do crochet and it's already cramping my fingers because of how I hold everything (yes, I realize I sound about 80 years old saying this). I was wondering if knitting might be easier on the hands/fingers since it's two needles?
On giltcity . com, there is a special today for an online crafts course including knitting and tons more options for $18. The promo code 50city gives you 50% off your first order.

bounce yay! You're going to love it and be addicted to moneymaking apps like AppCasher & Viggle like the rest of us Stick Out Tongue
.
Thanks to this thread I'm viggling and appcashing (so sick of slotsshake head ) trying to get some amazon or other gift cards to cushion the Christmas shopping expenses. Then yesterday, we get a bill for $2,500 from when the baby got sick and was in the hospital. Called and that's our out of pocket we have to meet. I tell you, it's hard to save money these days. Those gift cards are becoming more important!!!

I would call them and ask them one of two things (depending on if you can afford to pay all at once or not):

1. If you pay all at once, can you get a cash discount (I did that with a bill and without batting an eye, they reduced by 40%) EEK!

2. If you can make payment arrangements (most hospitals will do 6 or 12 months with no interest. It's like an interest free loan for you rather than putting it all on a credit card with interest or depleting any savings you may have earning interest.

I've watched no fewer than 100 youtube videos and I tossed my knitting needles in a fit of rage. Embarrassment I need to find someone locally to help me out.

As for the bill, surely you can set up a payment plan? They'd rather get $20/mo from you than have you skip the bill.

Glad you're using the apps and getting some GCs. Seems silly at the time, but $5 here and there really does add up nod

The pasta is BOGO until tomorrow
Hey, thanks for the heads up...unfortunately I only have four inserts from this past week but I'll make do with what I have. It's good to have an alternative to some of the items I have. This week has been really ridiculous. Last week it seemed like everything happened...well this week it was even more crazy. Wound up with a leaky garbage disposal which flooded my cabinets. Warped up the boards on the bottom of the cabinet. Can't use that side of the sink until it's fixed. Sigh.

And, I have the mother of all head colds. I really just want to get in and out and do as little shopping as I have to right now as I feel so lousy. Sleeping has not been easy! Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) I usually don't complain much but this week it's really hard to keep on top of everything (all this and all of the kids stuff we have to do to ack!).

Check out ravelry.com. There have got to be some local groups, they're all helpful and will teach you (for free of course) if you're stuck.

nod

I'd love to hear some of what you're buying for the scenarios though I'll bet I can guess some of it already. I am almost out of gas cards here (maybe 4-5 left). At one time I had a large stockpile of those too....nod.

I'll take a look on ravelry and see what I can find. I usually don't get so frustrated with crafts, but this is driving me nuts!

Here's what I'm buying:
Lipton (BOGO Qs)
Meow Mix ($1 printables)
College Inn broth (if included, $1 printables)
Bailley's creamer (BOGO Q and $1.50 printable and $1 PQ)
Jello ($1 TQ)
Scotties ($0.55/2 PQ and $1/2 printable)
Eight o Clock coffee ($2/2 MQ)
All detergent ($3/2 MQ and $1 TQ)
...and Alba and Sundown if they're in stock.

Thanks for the info. I'll be checking into a couple of those tonight. I'll have to look for the sundown here myself! Wasn't there a one stop one store PQ for the All coupon for detergent as well? I take it that your store is accepting TQ again! woot

I too have a nice stock of pudding. Wink Not that I eat it, but it's an easy addition to a school lunch.

Ah, yes, there is an All PQ! Whee I had in my head that the only detergent Q was Surf. Oh, don't forget about the Glade to increase your totals.

Only ONE store is taking TQs again. Luckily, it's the one closest to my house and they've always been the nicest. Even though their prices are a bit higher, I'm happy to support a nice Publix Smilie

My dad has claimed the pudding stockpile. I swear, he eats like a little kid sometimes.

nevermind... you have it (but it's not in the matchups TQ for Nabisco).

ETA: why do folks use the word desperate in regards to couponing? (as in, I'm desperate to find AB Coupon). I know we are all different, but I coupon as a hobby. I don't have to do it, but I enjoy it. I would be desperate to find a job or the restroom if I really had to go not to just find a coupon.

desperate: 1) reckless or dangerous because of despair or urgency 2) having an urgent need, desire

Yeah I found it in my stack of q's while getting my q's ready. Will add it to wiki and my matchups.

Eh, not everyone coupons as a hobby. For some people, getting the right coupon(s) can make or break their budget completely. I can see how it can be desperate sometimes (not just because of a coupon, but in general).

I have a dumb raincheck question.Embarrassment When I use a RC at Publix, do I hand it over before they scan the items or wait until everything is totaled? I have a RC for Country Crock side dishes and I wonder how to use it with the gas card deal. Thanks!! heart

Don't hand it over with Qs- they'll price adjust while its being scanned. I lay my RC on top of the item.

Smilie Thanks! That's what I thought to do, but wasn't sure. And BTW, I've earned $22 so far using AppCasher heart
