Thread Details

The PUBLIX thread is IMHO the best grocery store thread around heart
Here's a little chat area for us all to share info, recipes, rant's, raves and whatever else we want without clogging up the regular weekly deals thread for PUBLIX. If we want to share super deals we find in other stores or whatnot that's ok too heart

I think we all are such a great family that it's a good to have our own special place Grouphug

You can post basically anything you like in here but let's keep deals info in the actual PUBLIX thread. All are welcome and basically no major rules except be kind and courteous of other's and treat each other with respect. Other than that let's all have some fun! Also you don't have to shop at PUBLIX to share in the chat or whatnot... we like everyone.

Would love it if the people like airwick and glade came out with some 'naturally' scented stuff. Sigh.
It's not Glade or Airwick, but I saw some new candles at Target that are natural. They're beeswax & coconut oil candles. 5 oz for $3.99

I have seen decent deals on photobooks from Shutterfly and CVS, but was Google-ing & I love these unique ideas too:
*snip*
My original thought was Shutterfly, but once you go beyond the initial 20 or so included pages, the price is just nuts.

I don't know if I trust myself in craft stores Stick Out Tongue I spend way too much. But I may have to venture in to see what kind of ideas I can get.

Any of you peeps who do Wags - - - Any clue if the popcorn deal is still going on??
This has nothing to do with the popcorn deal, but can you drugstore shoppers keep an eye out for a great Halloween candy deal in the upcoming weeks? At this point, trick or treaters are getting Sundown and Scotties laugh out loud

What if you do more than one book if it doesn't all fit in one book? I say this because you can get Shutterfly books free and just pay the $8 shipping.
Right now books are 30% off with code: BOOK30

I went yesterday and bought four popcorn. I used my card but forgot to use the IVC. It rang up 4 for a dollar I'm assuming because I used my card. It was tagged buy one get one free but I guess the card/sale overwrote that? When I bought it Sunday I bought four got two free and the IVC price for the two I paid for but I can't remember if I used my card or not that time.

took hubby over 2 hours to get home from (attempting) to pickup our Zaycon order because of that massive accident on I-75. He wasn't even on I-75 (the Church is on University, which is where traffic was being diverted off the interstate to).

Zaycon has rescheduled for tomorrow because they couldn't get through because of the accident.

Peeps with iPhone's . . .

When I go to certain blogs on my iPhone I get to view their site in a mobile view.

Yet when I go to SD on my iPhone it is just a minature version of the site. It is not really a "mobile view" and is not always that friendly to read. Is there an app or something I am missing? Why does SD look like crap on my phone?

Are you going to m.slickdeals.net? That's the mobile version. It doesn't have all the features (like you can't rep), but it's much easier to navigate than the regular site on the iPhone.

I use the mobile version too. Just go to the site Kate mentioned and the save it to your home screen. Much less hassle to access it in the future. Just touch the "open book" icon & select add to hone screen.

Okay guys, help me be creative.

My moms 60th birthday is this month and I want to make her something special. For my dad's 60th a few years ago, we were all pretty much broke so we made cheesy stuff like "60 reasons why I love dad". I know my mom is expecting something similar and mushy and all that (the goal of every one of moms birthdays is to get her to cry happy tears). Think the sappiest birthday cards out there...that's what my mom loves.

My original idea was a photobook style thing with some pics & some memories of my mom, but they're pricey for the number of pages I need. My mom doesn't need more "stuff", just something sentimental that doesn't take up much room. But I'm stuck!
What about videoing friends and family saying something about her. Nice of courseBig Grin
They could each tell a little story of a fun time they have had. Probably would be good for a few laughs and tears. Get those memories flowing.

Thanks and reps to both of you! I have been using the standard version and it is a PITA to read, surf, search, etc. My iPad picked up the mobile version but my phone did not. I followed Bean's instructions following Kate's address and Viola!! Much better!! Thanks!

If any of you snagged the freebie coupon from Tai Pei on Facebook awhile back, I got my coupon in the mail today. It's in a plain envelope, so check before you toss. It's a coupons.com print, but printed on their veri-fi paper (just in case you plan to redeem at a store that is hesitant to use printable Qs for free items).

Does anyone have any ideas on good values for water filters?

Right now we have one that attaches and filters to the kitchen faucet. However, we're getting a new faucet and I don't want to attach it to this new one (I may be able to but not sure I like the aesthetics anymore. What is the best value/deal/filtering you can get...I figure those of you here likely know! The one I have right now is a great deal, but if I'm going to switch I'm going to have to find something else comparable.

Yesterday did two transactions with gas cards, $56 in groceries and the $50 gas card for $46 and change. The second one was $55 in groceries and the $50 gas card for $41.30. At the second store for the second transaction they actually did all my coupons first on the groceries...I was glad that it went down to $1.30 because if I had gone negative they told me that they are now 'enforcing policy' so that if the person is going to go negative they take off some competitor coupons so that the cheapest you can get an order with a gas card is $40. I hadn't even calculated before hand so I was happy when I squeaked by and they said they were very impressed.

May go back today as I just noticed the smart balance on sale and I was going to pick up some milk anyhow!

Speaking of crafts...Kate...there's a joann's printable 50% off coupon on the front page.

If the Target q is for the full amount or under they honor the full q. It's when you make overage on the Target q alone because the coupon is higher than the product, like the Bic q that was out this past summer. The q was for $1 off Bic stationary but the pens were only $.50, so they adjusted the coupon down. If the Glade was $5.49 and the Target coupon was $6 they would adjust it down, but since it is a BOGO they give you the full price of the item. nod

Just returned from my store and it was already wiped out of Dr. Scholls. Sadwalk Nothing left but the expensive stuff. Cheapest item was $3.79 for the Dr. Scholl's for her. Guess I'll have to wait for them to restock. Good thing the q is good till November.

Oh and I have done my P&G deal Cooking Up Early Detection [pgearlydetection.com]. If anyone is looking for a scenario:

Buy (2) Herbal Essences Shamp ($2.95 each)
Buy (2) Herbal Essences Cond ($2.95)
Buy (8) Covergirl Eyeshadow singles ($2.99 each)
Total $35.72

- $5.90 - (2) Free Clairol Herbal Essences conditioner or styler wyb shampoo, max $6.99, excl trial size, SS 9/16
- $8.00 - (8) $1 off CoverGirl or Queen cosmetics, excl beauty tools (Publix coupon), Green Advantage flyer
- $12.00 - (4) $3/2 CoverGirl products, excl trial size, PG 9/30
- $5/$25 SAL, $5/$35 SB, OR $5/$30 WD
Total $4.82 + $2.50 (FL. tax) = $7.32

Deal is even sweeter if you can find: $1/2 Herbal Essences or Aussie shampoo or conditioner, 10-13 oz (Winn Dixie coupon), Breast Cancer booklet
I have to be honest, its a great deal, but with all the RCs I do, a lil too pricey!
Although I can not figure out a free scenario yet.
what happened to me was an odd.....good deal though.
I was ringing up my order and looked down near the credit card/debit card reader. was a receipt..
2 swiffer $8.99 each
1 2pack of Bounty $5.xx ( I Think)
2 bottles of Tide, $11.99 each
Those three PROCTOR AND GAMBLE products, totally over $40.00....
What a receipt to find was a good day!

Isn't it funny when we think $7.32 is to much for 4 bottles of shamp/cond and 8 eyeshadows AND a free cooking set? I know it was high compared to all the freebies I had last year with that awesome CG coupon. I went hoping I would find those Dr. Scholls for some overage. But my store was wiped. I was bummed because I actually need them. DH said do the deal anyway. He always kills my totals. shake head
