Thread Details

The PUBLIX thread is IMHO the best grocery store thread around heart
Here's a little chat area for us all to share info, recipes, rant's, raves and whatever else we want without clogging up the regular weekly deals thread for PUBLIX. If we want to share super deals we find in other stores or whatnot that's ok too heart

I think we all are such a great family that it's a good to have our own special place Grouphug

You can post basically anything you like in here but let's keep deals info in the actual PUBLIX thread. All are welcome and basically no major rules except be kind and courteous of other's and treat each other with respect. Other than that let's all have some fun! Also you don't have to shop at PUBLIX to share in the chat or whatnot... we like everyone.

I was watching House on Ion TV a few minutes ago. The voice part of the show was about 2 seconds ahead of the action. It drove me crazy, so I decided not to watch the next episode.

It's like watching a bad Asian movie that was overvoiced for English, only the other way... (this was voice then mouth movement, the other is mouth movement and then voice).

Good grief, you'd think I'd learn!

Sent hubby to Publix for 10 items: 8 All & 2 Scotties. Gave him a little piece of paper showing the subtotal after coupons, the tax & the total due. He comes home & the receipt is almost $4 higher. ???? Can you not read???

Cashier entered the 8 All Publix coupons as 9 Scotties $0.55 coupons. Also, he entered my $5/$30 CQ as "F" instead of "T" - there's another $0.35. Yes, I'm counting pennies, lol.

ERGH!

Aw, that sucks! Maybe CS will refund the difference next time you go nod

Today was one of "those days". Target called with my trial lenses and turns out they ordered the wrong prescription...again. This is the second time they ordered me -1.00 when I need a -11.00. Argh.

I have a new job interview on Wednesday. I never heard back from the other one, but I think it's just hard to get my foot in the door when it comes to the mental health field. This position is more professional and I'm actually a little nervous- it's a bit out of my comfort zone, but I think I need that. I'm in such a rut! The longer I work at home, the more of a hermit I become and it's not good for me.

SD makes you cheap...real cheap

I'm envious of those with $X off $Y competitors, as I'd love to see your totals without those Qs. I thought my $62 purchase including the gas card was good...until I got here and started reading. Oh well, without a competitor putting out $X off $(20, 25, 30, 35) I'll never have totals like you have (as I won't buy things that me or my family can't use, MM or not). I'm done with the Bitch, Moan and Whine!

Pre-coupon tax of 8.5% including FOOD and OTC meds is also a factor.
I'm with you! The people here are amazing and SD does make you cheap!! I hear this often from family (but they do love to raid my "CVS" closetlaugh out loud

I don't think you guys realize how much I love pink Embarrassment I got into an argument last week with someone who insisted you can't be a feminist if you like pink and don't insist on everything being gender neutral, etc. I like what I like- not going to apologize for that!

....snip...
Pink is the best color! I went to a pretty feminist all-girl school and the school was painted pink and once a year, for a feast day, we got pink cupcakes as a snack. I just don't understand why people get so wrapped up thinking that there is only one way to look at things - feminists, like most things in life, come in all shapes, varieties, careers, you name it!

I bought a Publix Sub today for lunch (and for tomorrow's lunch) and a Fiji apple.

The apple cost $1.26! It would have been cheaper to buy chips.

If you don't shop at Staples much, but have an account, they are offering $6 per cartridge recycling (limit 5) this week with a $50 HP ink purchase. Must be done on the same day.

There's also a $5 off $25 Breakroom Q in the ad (but states after all coupons).

grrrrrrrrr... I just had to vent somewher -- I hope you guys don't mind -- I popped into my local independent supermarket and they wouldn't let me use a coupon because it's their policy to not let you use any coupons if an item is on sale (wtf? they'd rather lose money to credit card processing fees?) -- and then they called an actual off duty police officer over to enforce their policy. OMG I decided to write the manufacturer:

Approximately one week ago I received a coupon in the Red Plum mailer for $1 off of the purchase of any two cafe Pilon products. This evening I went to the Presidente Supermarket at XXXXXXXXXXXX and attempted to buy two Cafe Pilon 10 ounce packages of espresso. I was denied the use of the coupon because the "item is on sale". When I calmly pointed out that I was buying the proper items and the coupon was completely appropriate to use, the cashier called the off duty POLICE OFFICER from the front door over to the register to handle the matter which effectively made me look like a criminal to the rest of the waiting customers. The police officer has zero business dealing with coupons or the people who are using them properly. This is absolutely abhorrent behavior on the part of Presidente and their employees.

Meanwhile, you know and I know that the sales price does not affect whether or not the coupon will be honored for redemption -- all that should matter is that the correct item is purchased and that the coupon is not expired. Both of which conditions precedent I met.

I find this particularly disingenuous of this supermarket because several months ago I saw a cashier at this store unfolding HUNDREDS of coupon peelies for Smuckers ice cream toppings (I believe the peelies had been located upon or were supposed to be located upon cartons of ice cream -- which remained unsold in the freezer) -- to prepare the coupons for redemption for the toppings they had NOT sold!

As the manufacturer, perhaps you can help insure the proper use and redemption of your coupons. I take pride in my accurate use of coupons to save money -- and don't expect their use to be improperly denied to me (seriously -- what store which any business sense doesn't understand that a coupon is worth more to them than a swipe of a credit card?).

Oh -- I chose not to buy the Cafe Pilon -- I don't like being made to look like a criminal for trying to legitimately trying to save a dollar. I hope that you can help rectify this situation so that no one else is mortified by being treated the way I was trying to use one of your coupons.

Thank you.

Oh -- Smuckers owns Cafe Pilon -- so I'm hoping they will be interested in this. For the rest of you South Floridians -- be warned, don't try to use coupons at Presidente if an item is "on sale".

Seriously?! They called over a popo and treated you like that when they're sending in coupons that were NOT redeemed by consumers?! Oh boy! That is crazy Mad
