Thread Details

The PUBLIX thread is IMHO the best grocery store thread around heart
Here's a little chat area for us all to share info, recipes, rant's, raves and whatever else we want without clogging up the regular weekly deals thread for PUBLIX. If we want to share super deals we find in other stores or whatnot that's ok too heart

I think we all are such a great family that it's a good to have our own special place Grouphug

You can post basically anything you like in here but let's keep deals info in the actual PUBLIX thread. All are welcome and basically no major rules except be kind and courteous of other's and treat each other with respect. Other than that let's all have some fun! Also you don't have to shop at PUBLIX to share in the chat or whatnot... we like everyone.

My oh my...thought it would be longer before I had another Enjoy The City deal for you, but they are kicking off the holiday season with a new sale!

Nothing spectacular yet...better deals will be had next spring/summer, I'm sure, but if you want some now, it sure beats finding a kid selling them, and paying $20 a book! EEK!

Buy 3 or more, get 50% off (making them $10 each)
Buy 20 or more, get 5 books free

Doing the math, it works out to $8 per book, or $2 per WD $5/$30 if you order 20.
Promo code: SANTA

The fine print:
Effective 11/12/12 through 11/21/12 at midnight CST. No refunds or returns on books purchased with a promotional code. Offer valid via Enjoy the City and approved affiliates only. Any unauthorized attempt to resale this product can result in prosecution to the fullest extent of the law. Online orders are best processed on a laptop or desktop (some capabilities of our site may or may not be accessible via ipad or smart phone). Free shipping in the Continental United States only. Minimum order is quantity 3. Maximum order is 100. Please allow up to 2 - 4 weeks for delivery. Markets/cities added to the basket will be received (special instructions and/or other requests do not apply).
Offers subject to change. Orders cannot be combined. In the event a market sells out, it may be reprinted or refunded depending on the market demand.
For immediate assistance with your order, see the Help With Ordering Online tab at www.enjoythecity.com. You will find tips to ordering online and direct customer service contact information (Mon-Fri 8am to 5pm CST).
***Enjoy the City Coupons are not transferable. *** Merchants have entered into a legally binding agreement with Enjoy the City. *** Expiration dates of coupons are defined by that agreement and may vary from other coupons in the same book. *** Enjoy the City coupon books purchased online may not be sold unless you have an authorized distributor contract with Enjoy the City.*** Enjoy the City coupon books may not be sold via a retail or e-commerce store unless terms for such sales are contractually agreed upon by Enjoy the City.*** Enjoy the City is not responsible for re-shipment of undeliverable packages as a result of consumer errors made during an online transaction.

OK, I am taking the Wilton Cake decorating classes at Michaels. I finished Lesson 2 this week.
Any cake bakers out there? Whats your favorite icing recipe? I'd LOVE to find the Publix whipped cream icing recipe.
The Perfect Buttercream Icing recipe

Makes enough for one 9-inch 4 layer cake plus decoration or enough icing for a 9x13 with decoration.

2 cups Crisco shortening
1 stick butter, slightly soft but not mushy.
1/4 to 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
2 tsp vanilla
2 pounds powdered sugar, sifted (measure, then sift.)

DIRECTIONS:

In your mixer bowl, beat the shortening until its smooth, add the butter and beat together until smooth and light and fluffy. Add smaller amount of the heavy cream indicated in the recipe and the vanilla and mix well.

Add half the powdered sugar and mix for 5 minutes on low-med speed. Add remaining sugar and mix well. Add more cream or powdered sugar if necessary to adjust consistency.

Note: For a fluffier buttercream, beat the buttercream on a low-med speed for about another 10 minutes. For a super smooth (not fluffy) buttercream, don't beat long (maybe 5 minutes is fine.) This buttercream will be more white when it's beaten longer.

Does anyone know the end date to the current SAL Q on their FB page? I don't want to forget to print like I did before, but I want to get the latest expiration date possible.

Anyways. What's on everyones list for this coming week? I have a longer list than normal- Breakstone's sour cream, Hellman's mayo, Wesson vegetable oil, Lindsay olives (drool), Swiss Miss, Idahoan potatoes, Uncle Ben's rice (hoping this is the same kind I found the $1 peelie for today!), Triscuits, Planters nuts, Mrs Smiths pie (priced this today, btw. Pumpkin pie is $6.99 here, so only $2.50 AQ) and Cool Whip. Whew- can't remember the last time my list was so long!

HR called! She said I should have a contingent offer in the next 24-48 hours!

I think all that's left is fingerprinting and the drug test (no worries on that front). Not sure they did a background check yet (other than calling previous employers), so maybe just a criminal check is left.

That looks yummy! I'll have to save to my Mastercook for when I need icing. Thanks! yummy

I am really hoping for a $2/$2 produce q because I need a lot of fresh produce. I have a very long list and will need to do multiple trips this week. Thanks for pricing the pie. I need to pick up a chocolate for the kiddies on Tday. It's cheaper to buy 50% off the frozen Marie's than make my own chocolate pies, but pumpkin/apple will be homemade. nod I need to cut costs so bad Tday week since I also have company coming and we're doing Universal. OMG

My list so far:
Hellman's
Lindsay Olives
Mrs. Smiths Pie
Swanson Broth
Fresh Produce/Herbs
Cool Whip
Reddi Whip (we love a Whip) Teehee
Kraft Chunk Cheese
Rondele Cheese Spread
Breakstone's Sour Cream
Nestle Carnation Evaporated Milk
Kraft Velveeta Shells & Cheese Dinner
Pepsi Products, 2L
2 Turkeys

This will be my highest oop all year, I can see it now. Sadwalk
