Thread Details

The PUBLIX thread is IMHO the best grocery store thread around heart
Here's a little chat area for us all to share info, recipes, rant's, raves and whatever else we want without clogging up the regular weekly deals thread for PUBLIX. If we want to share super deals we find in other stores or whatnot that's ok too heart

I think we all are such a great family that it's a good to have our own special place Grouphug

You can post basically anything you like in here but let's keep deals info in the actual PUBLIX thread. All are welcome and basically no major rules except be kind and courteous of other's and treat each other with respect. Other than that let's all have some fun! Also you don't have to shop at PUBLIX to share in the chat or whatnot... we like everyone.

Well, in my experience, a full/queen didn't come down far enough on the sides for me. I'm picky about my bedding, can ya tell LMAO
Well, crap. That was my worry. Might have to look for something else that just comes in a Queen.

I'm picky, too. I love my Shabby Chic bedding from Target, but I'm getting bored of it!

I've got a queen bed, and pretty all I've ever seen is full/queen. Kinda thought that's all there was! Our full/queen looks just fine to me, but then again I'm not that picky laugh out loud

Looks like the Maruchan party is over around here - the supposed $.50/1 Maruchan Yakisoba SS insert coupon was a $.55/1 in today's AJC. Anyone else get a .55? Or a .50?

Looking around on the bay, and it seems everyone but Florida and Georgia got a $.50. "Coincidentally", the states where there are Publixes! Not sure why Florida got a $.55 since they wouldn't double there anyway. Wonder if Publix is tired of paying $.50 out of pocket in the LOD every time they make a sale when these things go BOGO...

I won't know until later today what Huntsville got (my pickup is late afternoon). Do you buy Yakisoba noodles to eat or just for the overage?

Ekks I am glad none of you were friends of my parents, or friends of my friends parents....
WHEN I WAS A KID....
but as a parents.....Ha! I'd be calling the police everytime it happened!

TN, I could never eat them, too much sodium. I have only 1/3 of the packet.....but still too much sodium (id rather get my salt on chips Wink )
They make donations!

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers, my mom has been moved from ICU today, Hopefully a short stint in hospital and can get home soon....(the hospital is 1.5 hours from my house, her house is 10 minutes)

I did stop at Publix on my way to the hospital yesterday...unlike most folk I seek out couponers to get behind
and I got a BOGO...two couponers!
well they were working in tandem and had a challenge who walked out with the most money....
was a lil disturbing to me.
I then got wondering, maybe it is me.
so my question is, if you have overage, do you get it in gift cards, but more (useful) products, or do you get it in cash?
I understand some stores wait to use the $5.00/$25 or 30.00 coupon until the and if you are in negative they will not use that, have any of you found that to be true?

I buy other things that I don't usually have coupons for. If nothing else, I end up with milk or meat. I'd never go for cash at Publix.

I never get cash or card, I always put extra stuff in my basket that that we need, is a treat, that we don't get coupons for, meat, produce. And I have had a few cashiers hold back the $/$$ coupons till the end, never a problem tho cause I never go negative. I have made a mistake in the past, but generally only pennies but there is (usually) tax. Wondered why they did that, but that may be why.

My store does not hold them back, which surprises me. Normally I have enough non coupon items in my cart to cover the cost of my overage. But before Tday I did buy $10 Publix gift card for my overage to use for my Tday dinner week. I've never taken cash. On one trip when I was owed cash back (something was clearanced and didn't expect it) I tossed on some gum. I don't like to call attention to myself at the store. Blush

I am so happy to hear your mom is doing better! woot Hope she gets out of the hospital soon!

On the Manchurian noodles - since we don't double guess it works out better here for $.55/1. Although I don't want to buy them. I finally have DH staying away from all that sodium and eating healthy. If I I bring them into the house he'll gobble them up and he eats 2 at a time!

Was happy to get some Poise in my paper. Missed the last go round since I didn't buy papers the last time they were out. Now to find them/ order some! nod

Oh I eat 'em for lunch. I like having free stuff for lunch while my work colleagues are buying theirs every day.

Not every day of course - I know the sodium will kill me, but then so will the caffeine in my coffee and any number of other things.

Speaking of both Maruchan and overage - the last time the Maruchan was BOGO, my cashier said, oh, yesterday some lady came in here buying a ton of these and I ended up having to pay her 20 bucks!

There is one Publix near me that enforces a 10-item limit - this one is a little more lax, but I still keep to it so as not to make a scene. But at $.50 overage apiece, to get 20 bucks she must have bought 40 of them, which is just way too "extreme" for me.

I get the whole shopping-as-sport thing, but when I go shopping I do still get things my family actually needs, so I can always spend my overage on other items without simply using Publix as an ATM, which just feels unseemly to me.
