Need Step by Step Update Vostro 1500 to SSD

PizzaNite 748 101 February 11, 2011 at 11:03 AM
Hi,
Did a search, didn't see this. Would like to update my Dell Vostro laptop 1500, to a SSD drive.

I am not sure if there is special software that is needed for the drive to talk to the laptop.

I know I have to clone my contents, but other than that, would appreciate a link or help. thanks so much.

You dont need any special software its a hard drive just with no moving parts. Your computer sees it as a hard drive. Treat as you would replacing any drive. If your using Win7 once back and running turn on Trim if the drive supports it and your good to go.

Hi, I watched both videos (they are great) - Wanted to make sure I got the right cables though. They are hard to see in the first video and at the original website couldn't find the closeup screen-shots.

Would the cables on this website be the one's? Thanks for take a peak.

yes that will do it I have a Kingston kit it comes with an enclosure too!

make sure you clean up your old drive of temp files and recycle bin no sense in copying over junk!

you may need to resize your partition too
