Yes, to restore the nook color all you have to do is restart it 6 or 8 times(can't remember which) and it will reset to original specs.

I'm still a bit confused if I should be updating to 1.1 before or after rooting the nook.

1.1 was just recently released, from what I've read to be safest you shouldn't go to it if you want to root. Check out more here: http://nookdevs.com/Installing_th..._rooted_NC

I was thinking of purchasing one just to root it but 2 things have stopped me:
1. I don't know if B&N is going to do anything to try and make it difficult to run rooted, I want to do it and forget about not have to worry at each update
2. I went to the store to check it out and it's pretty heavy for the low specs.

If you are looking for a tablet to play with, try to hold off a bit as it would make sense that prices will start to drop once the market is flooded in a few months

i updated to 1.1 then i rooted with no problems. when you go through the unroot process, it brings you back to 1.0.1. either way should be find. just whatever you're comfortable with.

It doesnt matter, both ways work. The only difference is you use a different auto nooker

Thanks for this thread... It was hard to find any useful information in the deal thread.

I updated my firmware to 1.1 from B&N site last night. I am just reading as much as I can about the rooting process. It sounds very straight forward (I'll be using Autorooter 3.0), but I want to be prepared if something goes wrong and I had to revert it back to stock.

it's quite easy. the directions on nookdevs.com are good. i followed it and had no problems. i tried running froyo on my nc but didnt like it. i may just run it rooted 1.1 til bn releases froyo

This is my plan too, I wanted to toss Honeycomb on it but it turns out all the honeycomb vid are basically just demo vids. not ready for release

yeah, i'd prob wait for a real realease of honeycomb before i even use it as a daily driver.
