Some information to make any buyers feel better about their purchase, and perhaps justify to the wife Wink The current model is the W9, and it is almost the same model, with a few tweaks - bigger hard drive, Windows 7, same proc w/ faster clockspeed, but most notably longer battery life. The W9 came out just under a year ago.

W9 Overview, Google Translate [google.com]

W9 Specs, Google Translate [google.com]

Translated W9 listing on Amazon JP [co.jp] That price is about $2300.

Translated W8 listing on Amazon JP, downgrade model [co.jp] That price is about $1400.

Global Mobile Broadband Internet –Gobi Technology (EV-DO Rev. A., HSPA) listed above as included is NOT included. It is listed as an option in the ordering process ($250) and has been reported as an option in emails from the vendor.

Please note that this model does NOT have Windows 7 x64 drivers. The Windows 7 x86 driver pack can be found Here [tpgweb2.net].

Starting to wonder about this company. Was supposed to be same day shipping. If you call about the status of your order, you're on hold indefinitely.

I was on hold for about 6 minutes and someone picked up and said they are getting a lot of calls. He was transferring me to someone else and I didnt want to be on hold again (or potentially ruin the deal) so I hung up and ordered online lol.

Hope it goes through! I think this deal is too good to be true though.

I got one too. Seems like these are going on ebay for well over $800. It's a steal if it ships.

I'm in the same boat. CC fully charged but no FedEx info. My guess is that they're waiting for more shipments to arrive. Hopefully that is the case.
That's my take too. They have created a shipping address for me but not charged my CC. Probably waiting for the next W8 "load" to arrive. I am betting that the fact that they created a shipping label means I am OK. At least that is what I am telling myself.Wink

W8'ing at work for any news. Heck W8'ing at home for any news.

This is sad I need to get a lifeBig Grin

I ordered on the 12th and heard nothing and nothing has been charged. I would still like to purchase one. I will probably turn to ebay. If someone has one to sell, I would be interested. I just don't know about the safety/ logistics of buying one from someone except maybe through a third party like ebay. I live in the Raleigh, NC area if there was someone from here that wanted to do an exchange.
Well, I'm in Oakland ca and will have one if anyone is interested in buying from me at cost.

Annoyingly, fedex left note on my door re attempted delivery. Problem is I had sent bizco at sales@ and zoz cancellation emails last week after zoz sent me personalized email on 2/17 telling me that my laptop would be shipped that day after I had sent previous email saying I wanted to cancel.

Appparently, laptop didn't actually get picked up by fedex until 2/28 but I never received any follow up email from bizco or fedex. Considering just refusing delivery and disputin with credit card company unless someone local wants it

Has anyone tried to put in a 3rd party WWAN card? If I wanted to, is there anything to consider? I've had my eye on some unlocked Sierra Wireless cards on eBay. I think you can get some with GPS, as well.
I did some research on USB based sierra wireless device. I prefer USB based since I could use it for different notebooks. But the cost of tether data plan for note-/netbook is still expensive. I don't see why I need to pay for separate plan while I can occasionally tether to my phone.

When they offer wimax/LTE for $30/month with 10GB quota, I'd bite.

That has kind of been my opinion on the issue... I can tether via bluetooth to my iPhone, so I should be fine. I'm thinking more of a GPS solution than WWAN at the moment.

I was quite annoyed at first, and then angry but now I feel pretty good knowing my order was cancelled. Everything happens for a reason, I sure a better laptop deal will come around soon enough. My x120e better not be cancelled or I'll be pissed for sure, but this W8 I can live without.
