Just my opinion, but I'd prefer even a GTX 460 768 MB to this. Like the GTX 465, the 5830 was too cut down to make sense.
At one time the 5830 may have made sense, but not anymore. I guess they don't want to drop the price so far considering how much it cost to make. However, because of that, I'd pass over it. Finally, there's no way to unlock the 5830. |

I used this card for a few months.
Bought last year when the 5830's were released. At the time, I wanted a decent card for my new computer build but also something that didn't break the bank. Looking back, I should have sprung for the 5850. The 5830 was the oddball card then and it still is now. I think even Radeon likes to pretend 5830 never existed; everyone else seems to when comparing gpu card specs. LOL Performance on the 5830 was good and the card was very reliable. It did have a tendency to run hot. I've since ditched it for XFX's 6970. |
