to be fair, horrible review! only one person has ever reviewed it It looks like it'd have similar/slightly better performance than other typical 5.1 satellite/HTIB setups.

I don't know this for sure - but this is my assumption:

These speakers are NOT Energy quality of the past. When API sold to Klipsch, Klipsch wrecked Energy.

Klipsch first discontinued the Athena speaker line (not verified, but I don't see then anywhere anymore). Athena was the lower level speaker line... it was Athena, Energy, then Mirage.

Athena used to have a speaker called the WS 60 - they had a whole line of WS speakers - see here:

It seems to me Klipsch has discontinued the Athena brand name and is now selling these exact speakers as Energy.

Very disappointing as Energy was one of my favorite speakers lines back in the late 90's, early 2000s.
I believe I read somewhere that the 2009 model line (or maybe the 2010 ML) of Energy speakers were the last set actually engineered by API.

Again - I cannot verify (or rather have not taken the time to verify) any of the above - but it is what appears to have happened in my mind.

As far as I recall, the Athena's were liked alot. So if these are in fact the same speakers, wouldn't this be a great deal???
