Official Gamer's Lounge MLB Thread - Baseball

Went to the Field of Dreams game this weekend. Got to see Frank Thomas hit a pair of HRs, Ozzie Smith turn a double play, Rickey Henderson steal 2nd and Reggie Jackson get out a bunch of times, haha. It was really a great experience, getting to see soooo many of those big name players, even if they were WAY past their prime, they can still play.

Here was the roster, but Dave Winfield was there, and Rod Carew said when he retired he refused to put on the jersey again, so Edgar played 2nd instead of DH. Johnny Bench is pretty freaking funny.

Thats pretty awesome. Didnt even know they did those. Frank Thomas and Ricky Henderson were two of my favorite non-tigers.

I wasn't a huge Frank Thomas fan, but I liked Ricky and Ozzie when I was a youngin'. Both Lou Whitaker and Alan Trammel were in the top 3 vote getters in their positions but lost out. Some nerd from Columbus won a Pepsi Max deal and him and 10 friends got to play against all those guys. It was fun, long at times because they kept switching up the rules (randomly get 5 outs, then 4 then 6) but fun. The minor league team's stadium fits about 10k, there were at least 11k there on Saturday.

I was going to call you a nut for comparing them, and still might...but I read Lou Gehrig did that famous "goodbye speech" on what was the 1939 version of Old Timer Day (known as Lou Gehrig Day that year)
