P and C reported, Spring Training is underway!!!!!!!!!!!

I was just looking up the Tiger's Rotation, we signed Brad Penny...I hope he is a Kenny Rogers and not a Dontrelle Willis... [edit: it was a Willis....Doug Fister was our Kenny Rogers]

But, the average age of our starting rotation is 26...how crazy is that...

"For the game's health as a whole, when we're talking about $30 million players, I think it's asinine," Williams said. "We have gotten to the point of no return. Something has to happen. And if it means the game being shut down for the sake of bringing sanity to it, to franchises that aren't going to stop the insanity, I'm all for it."
There were two teams last year that had a total payroll of $35 and $38 Mil, the one was 1 game short of the playoffs.

Ditto, except by baseball I meant basketball and that's why I haven't watched SC in weeks now.
Baseball...basketball...not much difference there.

Anyone have some crazy moves they have noticed yet? The Tigers outfield is so young (and inexperienced) it is unbelievable...but you throw Mags out there and it seems old, haha

I disagree with his 'asinine' comment..

We live in a free market. Market conditions + supply & demand are at work in MLB, just like they are in every other market. Albert Pujols is, hands down the best hitter in baseball, and by the time his career is over, he'll be in the 'ever' argument IMHO.

So what is the best hitter IN THE ENTIRE game worth to the Cubs GM I wonder? Put Pujols' numbers next to ANYONE IN BASEBALL, and the average Joe will easily see why he's worth $30/m a year.

I think it was the White Sox GM that said that stuff, hence the "ChiSox" reference? I didn't click on the link so I could be wrong.

What's this about?

Anyway...The Tigers will not play a team below .500 for the 1st full week of the season...and might not until the end of the weekend... That includes 3 games vs. the 3-0 Orioles (really???) and the 3-1 Royals.

I love the start of the season...everyone has a chance, haha

The start of the season? They actually showed a shocking stat on Sportscenter this morning.. if the season began on August 23, 2010, the Orioles would own the best record in the AL, at something like 37-23 (only the Phillies were better). They were a good team down the stretch last year, and got better on paper in the offseason.

Can they keep it up, though? Who knows..

could be worse, you could be some dude as SNY who played the Family Guy clip mocking the mets after the Mets almost got No-Hit on Friday lol
http://www.sportsgrid.com/mlb/met...broadcast/

for those who can't watch the clip, its a video of stewie with a mets hat at a mets game with the stadium announcer for the game going "Welcome to Opening Day. Here's the first pitch. *bat crack* And the season's over"

And SNY "accidentally" played the audio "It's Opening Day, and here's the first pitch..."

yeah seriously, Buck's a great manager, he's got the O's in 1st place!

But in all honesty, Buck'll turn the team around, then get let go in 3 years cause the players can't handle his iron fist.
