![]() 192.168.100.1 is the Ethernet IP address of the modem for diagnostic information about the modem. Nothing about the modem is configurable (except by Cox) and the user's IP assigned by Cox is being given to their router. In a round-about way of saying it, I'm saying that it is bridged. That's the only mode that modem has. What I've been getting at is that the ISP may be using NAT themselves. So they're handing you a private address as your "public" address and there's nothing you can do about it. We'll see what the OP's screenshot looks like. |

When you say "I tried forwarding the port to my 127 address, but it didn't work." Was that a typo, and you meant to say that in the Port Forwarding page you are trying to forward port XX to 172.27.X.X? If so, then that is your problem, you want to forward the port to the LAN IP address of the computer that will be receiving the data (192.168.1.X). If I misunderstood, then perhaps you should describe in more detail what you are trying to do. Last edited by lebedev; 03-02-2011 at 08:39 PM.. |

Hey guys,
I know this is an old thread, but I'm having a similar issue and was hoping someone could help me. I have a personal server that I've been using for years now. I have a domain name registered through GoDaddy. I recently moved into a new apartment and had to sign up for Time Warner Cable, rather than Comcast which I had previously used at a few different locations with said server. When I had moved in the past, I would just update the DNS "@" record on GoDaddy's site to whatever my external IP address was, which from what I can remember was always located under WAN - IP Address on Tomato's Overview page. From there, everything would work great as I already had all of the appropriate ports forwarded, etc. I just had internet installed and I'm able to access the internet, but I can't connect to my website. I notice that Tomato lists my WAN - IP Address as 192.168.0.2 . This is obviously a local address, and when I use whatismyip.com I get a different, true external address. Obviously I put in the external address into GoDaddy's settings, but I'm still unable to connect to my site after 2 days. I have a feeling the problem is relating to the local address the router is showing. I can actually hit my site when I go to 192.168.0.2 in a browser when I'm on my network. Why is this happening? I had a long discussion with Time Warner and they said the problem is not on their end, as the true external public IP should be showing in the routers settings. They said I should contact Asus (the model of my router) - but I obviously can't do that because I have Tomato installed. I can't seem to find many other threads posted by users with a similar issue. I tried manually changing the WAN Port MAC Address, but that just updates the IP Address to 192.168.0.3. I'm officially stumped. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks. |

Where is your "server" located? Is this server hosting the website you mentioned that you want to access on LAN?
For problem like this you need to post 1. The Internet plan you have 2. the network layout (which device are on the network and where did you try to connect from/to) 3. the ipconfig /all of the client you use to access the website 4. the related tomato settings page: "Basic" - "Network" page "Basic" - "DDNS" page "Port Forwarding" - "Basic" page and any settings page you find may be related to the problem. |

Okay, sure.
1. Time Warner Cable's "Standard" Internet Plan 2. I am trying to access the WWW from the Ubuntu Server on my laptop, or any device really. 3. the ipconfig /all from my laptop: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : [CommView] Atheros AR9485 Wireless Network Adapter Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : xxxxxxxxxx DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : xxxxxxxxxxxxx(Preferred) IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.106(Preferred) Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : Monday, October 08, 2012 5:33:22 PM Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : Tuesday, October 09, 2012 11:44:26 PM Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1 DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1 DHCPv6 IAID . . . . . . . . . . . : xxxxxx DHCPv6 Client DUID. . . . . . . . : xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ifconfig from my ubuntu server: eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr xxxxxxxxxx inet addr:192.168.1.124 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: xxxxxxxxxxxxxx/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:12400 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:10494 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:2567317 (2.5 MB) TX bytes:1418514 (1.4 MB) Interrupt:17 lo Link encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1 RX packets:185 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:185 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:17696 (17.6 KB) TX bytes:17696 (17.6 KB) 4. the related tomato settings pages are attached: "Basic" - "Network" page "Basic" - "DDNS" page Note on the DDNS page the default was "Use WAN IP Address (192.168.0.2) (Recommended)" but I changed it...nothing happened still "Port Forwarding" - "Basic" page Last edited by esper; 10-08-2012 at 09:36 PM.. |

Mind to post tomato "Status" - "Overview" page and the model number of the cable modem/router combo?
You should be able to get into the modem/router combo and set the device into bridge mode so you can get the current double-NAT thing out of the way and see if your own router can get the public IP for WAN interface and try to see if it's possible to access the 192.168.1.124 server through http protocol by using the public WAN IP. Not sure if you need to clone the mac address of your router on the modem/router setting page in order to be able to connect to Internet. You can do keyword search on dslreports forum by using the modem/router combo model number with something like "bridge" "cable". Last edited by teetee1; 10-08-2012 at 09:55 PM.. |
