I've been looking for a reasonable priced jogging stroller for over a month now. The inexpensive ones always have a maximum weight limit of 50 lbs. or less. I want a stroller to last until the pre-school years. This one is rated to 70 lbs. = Awesome.
After owning a BOB and a Baby Jogger, those are better strollers IMO but at this price the Kelty is a great value for those that don't want to spend $300+ and the Kelty is much better than the cheap brands from target/toy-r-us/etc
I used the Jeep branded one from Babies'r'us with my first kid. It cost about $150. It was fast, but lacking a swivel front wheel, it was very hard to turn. I could turn it in a large radius by pushing one side really hard, but my wife could not use it at all. Now we are ordering this Kelty for our now 6-month old second kid, we'll see how it goes. This does not have a front tray though.
You remind me of my wife mowing a lawn with a push mower.
With a fixed wheel stroller you push down on the handle bars (lightly) lifting the front wheel off the ground and pivot on the rear two wheels. It's a hassle but easy, unless your wife has a disability it should not be that hard.
Anyone know the Name brand? How does it compare to BOB?
Kelty is a very well known brand for high quality outdoor gear like backpacks, tents, etc. I can't compare it to a BOB since I've never owned one and I am not willing to pay the price for one. I have a 2 year old and 6 month old and was interested in a double jogging stroller. I did a lot of research online and that's how I found this Kelty deal. Kelty is actually the preferred brand for www.babybootcamp.com. I did find a couple of reviews on these particular strollers and there were lots of pros and some cons, but I found similar mixed reviews for the BOB as well. I figured a $475 stroller for $150 shipped was worth giving a try. I will say one of the biggest complaints I found was not being able to fit through a standard door way. Something to keep in mind if you plan to use this as a daily stroller. Here are two reviews that I came across you may find helpful:
