You have to get the paid premium service to get a free port. You don't have to port your number. They give you a new number when you sign up for the ooma account. I opted to port my number. It was $40.00 (or something like that) and took about a month to do. Best investment ever! I haven't paid a phone bill in over half a year.

i have had my ooma for about 1.5 years now and for the most part have been pleased with it. very rarely does it go offline (red flashing light instead solid blue light).
just one thing if you are a big downloader, you will want to put your ooma in front of your router so that it has access to your bandwidth first, before your computers (downloading), else the call quality will suffer from low bandwidth (to ooma). oh and those of you that might be planning to use it 24/7 and/or for a business that lives on the phone, you might want to think twice as ooma says they will cut you off if you go over X hours a month. With a premium service you get either a free number port OR a free Telo handset. |

Ooma and Fax
hi all,Has anyone tried actually using Ooma with a real fax machine? their FAQ says it might be possible, but it is not definite. I'd like to know if anyone has really done it. thanks Thanks,
