Deal Details

Cabela's has the Hi Point 995 9mm Carbine for sale in their current Glendale Arizona flyer. $209.00, or $189.00 with a $20.00 off 150 coupon (from Ebay).

This is a pretty good price for this gun, the lowest I've seen elsewhere was $229.00

I'd jump on this myself but I'm getting a Sub 2000 in the next week or so.

I haven't looked lately, but that's a good price from what I had been seeing.

As for the gun itself, the Hi-Point 995 kicks ass except for capacity. If this thing held 20 rounds, I think they'd sell a zillion of them.

I'm sure an aftermarket vendor will make a magazine that will hold more soon.

Aftermarket already makes 15s, but the reliability is suspect, and there now might be a Hi-Point warranty problem if you use non-factory magazines. Anyone interested in 15-round mags will want to read up on those two potential problems.

BTW, The advertised gun looks like it comes with the fore grip.

Hi-Point is typically garbage, but if you are poor its better than nothing.

Hi-Points are actually not garbage, they just are neither excelling in finesse or look good.
But they are quite reliable for the price.

If I needed a gun right now to go bang and had to choose between a random Hi-Point and a random Kimber both sitting on a table, I'd pick up the Hi-Point.

I'll even toss in a recent example:

RALEIGH -- Little more than a year after buying 150 collector-grade handguns, officials at the N.C. Division of Alcohol Law Enforcement say the $1,055 pistols were so unreliable they had to get rid of them.

ALE Director John Ledford said the Kimber pistols repeatedly suffered such problems as rounds jamming during training exercises, broken sights and the weapon's safety button sometimes falling off.
What do you expect for only $1055 apiece, I guess.

I have heard that this Carbine is good. I picked one a couple of months ago, but did not get a chance to go to the range. HP pistols do not have a good reputition.

HP is known for excellent warranty service.

Can someone from out of state purchase a gun in Arizona? My In-laws are currently down in the sun city area.
