i havent fired a 2022 but i did own a 2340 for a short while.. the ergonomics of the handle were not that good unless you have large hands but overall the gun was well built.. all the same features of the 22x guns but at half the price.. if i could find one with night sights for less than $300 I would buy it just for my truck.. i'm contemplating a hi-point just so i can leave it in my truck and not worry if a $500 gun gets stolen..

Yeah I'd love to leave something in the car, like a keltec p11. But I'm afraid some goon will break in my car and now I've armed a punk.

Plus I go on base too much so I'd have to be taking out all the time.. screw it haha

yeah, when i move back to AZ i'll be building some kind of shelf/storage system behind the seats in my truck so i'll try to find a way to hide it where it wont be seen even if they do break into my truck.. plus i have a pretty good alarm on there now..

Was talking to my wife's uncle today and he offered to sell his Sig p226 9mm with night sights, a safe and some ammo for $350. Would I have to be crazy to pass that up? I was already thinking I wanted a 9mm for her. I was thinking revolver but she's not opposed to getting good at shooting whatever (I will definitely be shooting it too though).

if you dont buy that, let me know and i will.. i sold my .40 p226 for $550 and that was probably too low

I'm pretty sure he's only offering that price because we're family. So yeah I think we'll pay him tomorrow and take it. He said its been fired less than 500 times.

i just traded a sig 226 for an AR15 which i took all the good parts off of and then traded for a brand new glock g23 w/ns and a ton of accessories and ammo (and a mytouch 4g haha).


So yeah, buy that or you a FOOL!

So it turns out he was mistaken, it's a p228, not p226. He said we can try it out first to see if we want it. I don't really know what the differences are besides a small size difference. I already checked the night sights and they still work.

the 228 is just a smaller version of the 226 chambered only in 9mm.. the 228 has been discontinued and replaced by the 229 with is basically the same gun but now comes chambered in 9mm, .40 S&W, or .357 sig.. and they also added the rail on the bottom of the gun..

these are my 226 (just picked it up on friday) and my 229 so you can see the size differences.. the weird thing about these guns is that I shoot more accurately with the smaller 229 than i did with the 226 that i just sold.. hopefully next weekend i'll see how i do with the new 226..

edit: and if you find you dont like it let me know.. i'll take it off your hands

Smaller so much better for CCW, the 226 is a big heavy gun.

And because of that the value is higher.

des can correct me if I'm wrong, but this is definitely the case for the 229 over the 226
And most guns for that matter (see glock 19 compared to glock 17)

its not much smaller, about a half in off the barrel and maybe a quarter inch off the handle, but i think they are about the same weight.. the slide on my 229 is thicker than on the 226.. you can see in the pictures

Do you generally see the 229 resell higher then the 226?
Or the 228 for that matter?

I am just going off resale/new prices I see here in VA.
Generally the smaller frame handguns are more sought after then the full sizers IMO
