Hi everyone,
I got my permit a few weeks ago. The day I got it I went to the lgs and picked up a Ruger sr-22 to learn to shoot. It is fun to shoot and after a while I was able to consistently hit where I was aiming after changing my grip, and stance slightly. In the meantime I was searching for a CZ 75BD but no one seems to have them in stock at a resonable price. Instead I went with the updated version of the gun that got me hooked on shooting, a Beretta 92A1. I got a pretty good price on it and coudln't resist. The grip I swapped out with a Hogue rubber grip. It is very comfortable and inexpensive. Last night I picked it up and can't until the weekend to test it out. I think I've stumbled across a new vice (first watches now this). My next couple purchases are already planned out but I will wait a while to get better with my technique and save a few bucks. One question I have is how do you guys who are in a condo / apartment store your firearms? I am looking for a medium size safed to hold everything that is fire resistant to put in my closet. I will be fastening it to the floor and wall. |

Congratulations on the gun purchase. I think you should have stuck with a CZ but if you read through here you will find that I am biased . I love the hogue grips though, they fit perfectly and feel so good when firing. Make sure you post a range report with how it fires. |

![]() I don't keep a safe yet, so I can't respond to that.

Most come packaged with mounting hardware and the safe has premachined holes ready to pop out for bolting to something. |

The SR-22 is fun and it will fire any type of .22lr without jamming. although its a small pistol it comes with a larger grip for those of use with larger hands. There is very little recoil (its a .22 of course) and its pretty accurate. It also has a bunch of safety features needed for a fisrt time owner like myself. As far as next purchases I am looking into tracking down a CZ75BD or an CZ75 SP01. I wanted a CZ with a decocker instead of the manual safety but they are tough to find as of late. After that I was thinking a SIG P226 or P229 or a HK USP. Both are expensive so I don't plan on making those purchases until my skill matches my want lol. After that I was thinking an AR-15 variant. When I picked up the 92A1 I held a glock. I read that people either loved or hated the ergonomics of it. It fit my hand perfectly so that is a possibilityas well. Speaking of wives, when I unboxed the 92A1 I thought it was a work of art. BTW I'm an engineer by trade. Anyways I handed to my wife to hold. She held it for 3 seconds handed back and said uh huh Blashpehy. Lol she didn't even appreciate the blue of the reciever or even the matte black of the exposed barrel. I didn't even get into SA and DA with her before her eyes glazed over. Oh well at least she hasn't put up much of a fight as long as I keep them stored safely. What do you guys do about ammo storage. I have an ammo can but I just read that if there is a Fire an the fire fighter hear the ammo cooking off they will not enter. Alex, do you not worry about the gunvault being taken if there was a break in? I'm torn because i don't plan on being in the condo forever. |

In terms of ammo storage, there are plenty a smaller fireproof safes that you could go for. Maybe something from Honeywell or a fireproof filing cabinet to be less conspicuous. |

My first purchase was a S&W M&P handgun. If you like the feel of a Glock, I suggest taking a look at the M&P as well. I initially wanted an H&K, but I changed my mind. |

The SR-22 is pretty close in size to the Walther. My wife shot when we went to the Gun Store in Las Vegas and liked it. We haven't gone to the range since I've gotten my permit but hopefully she'll find it as therapeudic as I do and I can give her the SR-22 or what ever she chooses. The gun Vault sounds interesting and I think I will take a closer look at it. I like the idea of bolting it down in the closet.
Off topic question where can i find a screwdriver that has a coated tip? I scratched the one of the grip screws installing the Hogue grip and have since ordered new ones. |

Are you using the minivault or multivault? I 'm curious what to do if i get the cz soon. There will need to be enough room to store the 92A1, Sr-22 and the CZ. |

it is possible to fit two full size handguns in the minivault but I would recommend against it as it becomes difficult to retrieve in a hurry at that point. Gunvault also has a larger option called the Multivault. My recommendation would be to go to your local gun store or outdoor supply. Call ahead and find one that stocks gun vaults. They will usually have them on display so you can get a feel for how they work and their storage capacity/size. I am only using these a temporary option and once I move into a house (no time soon) I would like to get a larger safe. Right now I am researching AR-15s and one of those definitely wouldnt fit in a gunvault. I guess it is time to build a secret storage cache into a bookshelf.
