derrr my bad didnt realize it was a 15-22.

The stock rail is fine on those and yes you can use front MBUS. That is what I have on my 15-22. Personally a troy rail or anything more expensive would be overkill for a 22lr rifle.

and for giggles.. heres mine pictured with a mbus front and rear

lol no problem. What kind of rail is that? I was looking at the LaRue index clips. They look like an intersting option.

stock 15-22 freefloat rail.

I threw some scalloped rail covers on it as well from (dboys)

But I wouldnt buy those again - they work fine, but arent nice and tight like the surefire scalloped rail covers (of course theyre much cheaper)

Uhh, can't decide what I should go ahead and get: a m&p15-22 or the palmetto state armory patrol rifle kit. I know you can't compare the two, but I want both but the wife will definitely kill me if I go ahead and get both. I can probably get by if I get one now and wait a couple months for the other....

I am leaning towards getting the PSA kit more and more when I think about it, but I also really want the m&p. the ranges around here only allow pistol calibers and I could probably only shoot the PSA kit once a month or so if I am lucky. Plus having to wait several weeks before I get the PSA kit would drive me nuts.

I went ahead and ordered the M&p 15-22 MOE, and am waiting to hear back from PSA about getting their package deal as a pickup...Hopefully I will get to enjoy them some before the wife finds out lol

Any thoughts on what I should get for a 5.56? Preferably I want to keep it around $800 or so for the gun (will get optics later). I don't know if I should go ahead and go with one of the PSA packages, or go for a S&W M&P OR, or spend a little extra and get a Colt LE6920. I am leaning towards the Colt, but I would like a reason to opt for something else.

My m&p 15-22 is awesome. I've shot probly 800 rounds through it so far and haven't had a single problem with it yet besides my thumbs hurting from loading the mags so much.

You know there is a button on the mags that you slide down to help with loading right? It is on the 25 round mags, but not on the 10 rounds, so maybe that is why?

Yeah I was looking at both of those. I live in SC (2.5 hours away from PSA) so I get hit with the tax and shipping from PSA...

From what I've been seeing, 1 in 7" twist seems to be ideal and 1 in 9" is ok. I don't really know how much of a difference if there is one at all between the two twist rates, but that is one reason why I haven't pulled the trigger on a m&p 15. I know a few people with the m&p 15 and they love them, so I may end up going with one though.

1:7 twist is optimal for 5.56 and 1:9 for 223 from what I have heard.
Most prefer to go with 1:7 twist.

My thought process: My purpose for owning an AR aside from a range toy wouldn't be engaging anything beyond 50-100yds. And at 50-100yds I would be fine with 8" grouping.

I shoot non magnified mostly and can't see myself caring about supreme sub moa accuracy.

Now if you're a hunter or super marksmen then yes look at heavy barrels and what would be most accurate and all that jazz.

Me - chrome lined 1:7 or 1:9 twist is fine. That being said, all my ARs are 1:7

1911 .45 cal...Which makes/models to look at and which to avoid? I've had my eyes on a S&W 1911 Tactical for several years now and have never pulled the trigger. Must haves...Stainless body, <$1k. Preferreds.....skeleteonized hammer/trigger, and rail

Also like the Remington 1911, as it is quite a bit cheaper than the S&W, but it doesn't have my preferred options.

Rock Island Armory makes decent 1911s for under 500 bucks. You could upgrade some parts for a few hundred and have a great 1911. But I am not sure they make a stainless.

I actually just parted with my only RIA 1911. It was really nice. I sold it used for around 400 too.

Have actually looked at them, but had heard it was better to spend a little more. That's a pretty steep discount to the ones I was looking at though....Hmmm.

Can someone recommend a decent priced AR15? I've been looking at a couple Colt LE6920's on gunbroker, but am unsure if there are better priced options out there. Though I really have been trying to find one with a shorter carbine barrel like this one.
