they stopped making the p228 (9mm only).. can only find them used now.. they replaced it with the p229 which is in 9mm, 40 s&w, and .357 sig..

words of advice.. never buy any gun that says Taurus on it
What's wrong with Taurus, besides the long trigger pull?
I carry the PT709 with no problems.

Got a bunch of Blazer .22 525rd boxes for $21.24 OTD, I think that was a pretty good deal. The guy in front of me bought 20 boxes.

He must have one hell of a squirrel problem. I need to start looking at purchasing ammo online in bulk. My local stores shelves are always picked dry now of everything but shot shells.

Well the same case of 10 boxes was going for $650+ on Gunbroker last night, so I am thinking maybe he was reselling. I bought 6 boxes, 2 of which were for a co-worker.

Freedommunitions has reloaded ammo that is supposed to be good. If anyone knows of better prices, I would be curious to see it.

Ammo sucks right now,

Every once in a while I can grab some bulk ammo from sgammo or aimsurplus.

I was able to get 1k of 5.45 for under 200 shipped. And yesterday I ordered 124gr PMC 9mm FMJ for around 15 per boc Frown. My last order of 1k 9mm (speer 124gr lawman) was 240 shipped... oh the good ole days

I am looking at 9mm, and the price seems normal - $13.99/50 or $266.59/1,000. Pretty much everything is out of stock anyways.

Did you get in on the GearHog/USA Ammo deal in Jul 2011? I still have ammo leftover from that deal. 1k 9mm and 150 .38 for $122.48 shipped woot Reloads, but they are great quality.

I guess they must have raised their prices too.

I am surprised more of you guys don't reload. I know everything gun related is oos right now but normally the prices are lower and the supplies more readily available.

I mainly shoot 9mm and .22LR. I don't shoot enough 9mm to make it worth it, not even close. The other calibers I shoot are even more infrequent - .32, .38, and 12ga.

You don't have to make a huge investment to get started. I have a poor mans setup right now but it gets the job done, although a lot slower than a progressive.

My Uncle said I could have ALL his reloading stuff...I mean, he has a TON. Digital scales, the big tumbler thing to polish brass, etc. Only problem is, it is all 3k miles away. I'll get it someday when I find the space to set it all up.

Well with regular pricing I was told reloading may save you about 100 bucks per 1k. But take a few hours of your time, plus the worry about testing and tailoring your loads (much easier when you can just step outside and shoot).

So to save 100 bucks was never worth it to me. But now, to save 200 bucks.. shoot I might. I definitely shoot enough to make it worth it.

Although I heard primers were a pain in the A to locate now?

No I dont recall the deal. I usually just by 1k of Speer 124gr Lawman for 240 shipped at a time. Excellent quality brass ammo - and kept me consistent with what I was shooting.

Times are a changing!

notorious for having all kinds of jamming and feeding problems.. not worth the risk if its your only self defense pistol

i've been to there store front in Houston.. its pretty cool.. their reload .223 can be finicky in some AR's.. but i think that depends on the AR itself.. i just picked up a box of 500 rounds of steal core blaster ammo for $200 about a month ago.. wish my order from sportsmans guide from last march would ship.. 900 rounds of stripper clipped ammo from lake city for $266
