Oh this is a nice price, and I use outlook. I wonder what this Easy Use Product Key is...
From my experience it's a little plastic case that comes in the mail that looks like the large CD/DVD holders that Microsoft distributes, but you download the software. Its a plastic case with a card inside with the number... but I dont know how this company is handling it. I am probably in for 5 for the office... they make chargeback on credit cards for a reason!
I try to use FOSS software whenever I can, but there are some times (damn you older bankers that don't want to adapt!) where outlook and excel are the right tools for the job. For those examples, this is a killer deal. If legit.
The only reasonable way this is being offered is via an ISV agreement. According to MS, an ISV isn't allowed to distribute office via electronic download. It would have to be installed by them directly.
I bought one of these "Plus" versions back in August and installed it with no problem. Then last week I got a virus and to rebuild and reinstall and when I tried to activate it came back invalid. I contacted MS and they said that the "Plus" version is only sold in bulk to corporations and it is not licensed for individual users. I tried to contact the vendor but no response. It might be this same party operating under a different name. So basically I am out of luck as I cannot get the vendor to respond to my emails.
How are they doing this? I'm guessing they are pooling all purchasers during this sale as part of a purchasing organization, in accordance with this statement from the page linked about Pro Plus:
"Purchasing organization" would describe this pretty well--they are organizing a purchase, and you're in for $99!
Is there some way to inquire to see if this is correct?
I suspect that this is _not_ the type of licensing we're buying from 1saleaday. I purchase volume licenses for my organization; for, say, 20 licenses, you're given one key. Gotta be something else, or else it would be disastrous, giving one key to everyone.
I purchased some from 1saleaday because a business associate of mine needs some, and they're not eligible for the volume licensing.
This seems to fall in the 'too good to be true' area of SD. Typically that's a great thing - and it's still true, but with MS and licensing....I doubt this will work in the long run. Sure you may get a key - and it may work, but in the long run, it probably wont pan out. I'm tempted to get in on this - but just can't see how this is 100% legally working. It may be close - but MS wouldn't just allow everyone to group up and get cheap prices.
Many, many great deals!
