I own the 47" version of this television. It's nothing short of spectacular. Worth every penny I paid for it.

They're slowly dropping the price on this one. Few weeks ago was 1399, then 1349, now 1299.

I bought the previous model of this (the one without aps). It's great, plugged in a ps3 for blu-ray and have been amazed. Vizio is great, still have my 37" from 5 years ago!

Not that this isn't a bad deal on the 55" VF552XVT but... it was the 553 model (XVT553SV [vizio.com]) that got CNET's "Best of the Year" award along with the Panny plasma, and I seem to remember seeing some deals about this good for the 553. And there's a newer 554 model (XVT3D554SV [vizio.com]) that appears to be a 553 refresh with 3D capability added. Still, from all reviews, it looks like the 552 is a great TV, and $1300 is a great price for a full-featured 55" TV.

I got this television when it was a front-page deal some weeks ago. It is nothing short of spectacular! I've owned at least 6 flat-screen televisions -- both plasma and LCD -- and this one blows them all away. The color, the brightness, the clarity, local LED dimming; contrast, etc. -- all wonderful. Outstanding black levels as well.
The sound is very good, and I can agree that the silver sound bar isn't the prettiest. I picked up the Vizio sound bar at Costco for $89 and popped it in front of the TV's sound bar. Not only did it notch up the sound experience tremendously, it hides the ugly silver sound bar almost completely. I paired it with a sub-woofer I had from an old AIWA system, and can't believe the results. The sound-bar even notches into the TV's stand perfectly so it is extremely stable and perfectly centered. I've had relatively decent 5.1 home theater in-a-box systems in the past, but the sound-bar is surprisingly outstanding and does a fantastic job of replicating 5.1. I can't recommend it enough... Back to the television... At first I thought that the internet apps would be a nice little add-on, but they are so much more than that. I've found myself using those built-in apps all the time to watch web videos, check Twitter and Facebook, and also find really good content to actually schedule time to watch! Tune-In radio, TWIT, Pandora, Netflix, etc. And there's new ones all the time ready to download to the TV. And because they're integrated directly to the TV and not buried within a Blu-Ray player's sub-menu, I find myself using them all the time and consuming so much more content. The remote control is also outstanding. It really is a 'universal' remote as it has replaced the remotes for my cable box (Cablevision Scientific Atlanta), sound system, TV, and Blu-Ray player. And I did not loose one bit of functionality of any of the devices either, which was the most surprising especially for the cable box. I can still hit 'Info' and get program descriptions, scroll through channels without actually channeling, use the on-demand and program guide, etc. without fail. Truly outstanding. It's both Bluetooth and IR, so it works everything on the TV without having to even point it in the right direction. And it has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard for doing e-mails, Twitter, Facebook, video searches, etc. The television connected to my 802.11N network effortlessly, and has not lost the connection yet.
