This is a pretty interesting site and I was able to reserve a car for almost $200 less than I did on Travelocity, even though I still have 45 days for it to drop again..
One thing I've found is that I’m not sure they will move you to a different rental company after you book. I think they just find discounts on your original rental. I played around a bit with coupons and corporate codes to observe how that can affect the original prices they give you. Even though they say on their site that entering these codes aren’t required to get the best deal, I was able to get a better price by choosing a different company than the “autoslash” from my original booking. So by changing rental companies (but still using Autoslash), I saved $100 from my first reservation. I would hope their system would find that for me and automatically do it, but I don’t think so. Anyway, this is a cool new tool for car rentals. Thanks for sharing. |

I had a strange error with this website. I had a reservation for week plus a half day that autoslash was monitoring. I got an email of a markdown on the price so I went to rebook it but noticed that the new booking was only for the week and had lost the half day. Luckily, I caught it and rebooked the week plus half day rental.

hmmm........so I'm giving them a try, I wanted to get like an suv but seeing how gas prices are really going up before the summer an eco car will do, it came out to 667 and some change. I got 3 months to see the magic happen. I have variable options of how I can get to where I need to

lax?
I booked a rental from Apr 9 to 13 @ LAX via autoslash. The lowest price that came up for an intermediate was $165.17 for 4 days via EZ Rent a Car, a price that I am expecting to drop according to other posts on this thread. The problem is, now I started researching EZRentaCar LAX and reading the horrible reviews they have gotten. I am really nervous that I will get a "banged up piece of junk", or filthy car that others on YELP have recieved from this location. Anyone rent from this company before? Should I be worried? Should I change this reservation? Any help/advice would be appreciated, thanks! |

In my case, I had a budget minivan booked for $438 for 7.5 days, then last week I checked again and got it down to 418. Just today, autoslash let me know that it dropped to 350 through fox rentals. When I checked through carrentalsavers, out popped a 314 minivan through alamo. Hopefully, it will drop more! |

Have ya'll seen the recent update on the Autoslash website?
I knew it was only a matter of time before companies refused to use it. The bottom line is that the rental companies just don't want the consumer to save money. That's my worthless opinion, anyway. I recently read on a travel forum that one rental car company was charging a cancellation fee, something like $2, for cancellations to prevent the booking and rebooking to save money. I'm disappointed as I think Autoslash has a really good thing going. I used them for my rental in Vegas last month and saved $40. My price only went down once but it sure was great not having to do any work for the rate reduction. Here's what the message on the Autoslash website says: We regret to inform you that Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group, Inc. – the corporate parent of Dollar and Thrifty, and Hertz Corporation which also owns Advantage – took action to prevent our customers from booking rentals from these brands through AutoSlash. This action came on the heels of this February 18, 2012 New York Times article, which encouraged the renting public to "make a statement" by "booking through AutoSlash and patronizing Hertz, Thrifty and the other companies that play along." We're disappointed that these companies have now chosen to reverse course and adopt this anti-consumer position, after having participated in this site since its launch in mid-2010. Apparently, with more customers booking reservations through our service, they felt they could no longer support our consumer-friendly model of automatically finding the best discount codes and re-booking when rates drop. AutoSlash will not waver in our objective to help people get a great deal on their rentals. We have exciting product plans on the horizon to make our site even more useful to you, and we look forward to sharing details with you when the time comes. It looks like you can not book at Autoslash right now but you can still put your car rental confirmation in at their site and they will automaticaly check for better deals for you. I booked a 10 day rental for $409 three days ago. I entered my confirmation at their site. Today I get an email from Autoslash for the same vehicle, for $373. They even give you a link in the email that takes you right to the new deal. Cancelled the old reservation and got the new one. I hope to get more price drops before I go.
