Lowes has a sale on their 5x8 utility trailer. They are normally $728 at my neighborhood store, today they went on sale for $528. Price is good until 03.21.11

This may not be a nationwide sale but it is a heck of a deal. It's wonderful to have a trailer for spring clean up and the rest of the year too.

I picked mine up today. Check your local listings but here's mine...

Has anyone used one of these with a regular 2 wheel drive car? I don't have a 4WD, but this would be a a huge help lugging large stuff around for the house. But we only have 2 compact door cars....

I would check to see what your towing weight is. These are very light weight and tow very easily. I would check your owners manual. This has been wonderful for our house but I do have a Rav4 AWD. It has a max towing capacity of 1200 pounds which isn't much and I have never bogged down using this trailer. This is my second one. I had one from April 2009 that was stolen in October. I was glad to see these go back on sale.

I picked it up today at the Woodbridge NJ location but it was actually $598 before I used the 10% off coupon. In hindsight I wish I had picked up a $500 giftcard 2-3 days earlier and would of gotten the extra 10% added on. Anyway its a pretty good deal.

A few months earlier I tried having Tractor Supply match a Harbor Freight coupon (20% off) but they would only give me 10% off which I was going to use to get their 5x8 trailer which actually has 13 inch tires and would have cost about $630. Not sure if the Lowes deal ended up being better but regardless I got my trailer and its pretty cool. Used ones were going for money on Craigslist.

Any suggestions on protecting mine from getting stolen?

These are sooo prone to getting stolen. I would get a ball lock if I could. They use something like this at Lowes: http://www.sportsimportsltd.com/t...osoha.html

I wasn't as cautious as I should have been before because I live in a fairly safe area of Utah. Since then I have started using a lock on the tongue AND chaining it to a pole. I will never assume again.

That being said, my friend in Texas had one stolen that was padlocked and chained to a pole. He was living in an apartment complex and they were just brazen. I live in a suburb and it will soon be stored in my locked back yard in addition to the two locks.

Just be as cautious as you can. I am thinking of painting mine hot pink with turquoise spots to help prevent theft but so far my husband isn't a fan.

this is a great deal on a trailer.
Would buy one, but we dont have a vehicle to tow it with. Biggest car we have is a camry. And putting a hitch on a 2-door 3 series bmw just wouldnt be right....
time to trade the camry for a small suv. (super SD effect!)

I have towed it at 70 on the interstate when it was full of gravel. It handled fine. They tow better with some weight on them.

Nice trailer, but in a state like S.C. where they're not titled or registered, it wouldn't be more than a month or two before it grew legs.

I got one of these last year, on sale and they took a 10% coupon. I think I paid around $470. Good lightweight trailer for my little lawn jobs. I can haul a small 30" JD rider and other gear around. The ramp is barely adequate for the JD but so far so good. The best part is I can move this around by hand easily when empty. Takes a standard 1 7/8 ball and I use my little toyota 4banger to pull easily.
