Thread Details

Everlast Punching Bag set for $49.99 at Academy Sports. Closest price is $68.99 @ Target and Amazon (sold by Target) Stick Out Tongue and $66.95 at eSportsOnline.

Here's the link:

The set includes the following:

* Adjustable Speed Bag platform featuring a 24" smoothly finished wooden drum
* Standard Speed Bag Swivel
* Vinyl Speed Bag
* Speed Bag Gloves
* 100% cotton handwraps
* Performance Jump Rope

Bought it some days ago, installs in a snap. Preferably use a drill. You will need a couple of lag bolts (sold separately). The rest of the hardware comes in the box. It's great for working out. The gloves, wraps and rope feel a little cheap but they do the job. The bag, swivel and platform themselves are quite solid.

A common question is at which height to set the bag. Here's a tip: Advice ranges from above eyebrows to at mouth/nose level. Think of the lower part of the bag as your opponent's chin! Big Grin

To see some technique on how to hit the bag, from Mr. Kostya Tzyu himself:

Happy boxing! woot

Looks like a good deal to me if I had a place to hang the punching bag.

That jump rope goes for $18 or more at Sports Authority (I'm just going off the top of my head here cause I was shopping for one last year). It's got the ball bearings inside the handle which allows smoother rotation and longer life. Material of the rope looks like nylon, good quality. The jump rope I'm using now has the ball bearings in it and with tax I probably paid close to $16. Mine has a plastic and foam handle, not wood so it's lower quality. I would pay more for the better handle. The rope itself looks quite thick which makes jumping easier to time (harder on the wrists and arms too) and do tricks.

Having purchased handwraps in the past, this looks like a pretty good package when you consider the gloves and pad.

ChetEB, you only need two wall studs separated by 16" to make the bag fit. I live in an apartment with scant space but it fit quite well! Smilie

stevenq: It's true, the jumping rope looks solid w/the ball bearings. It is somewhat light though. Unfortunately I can't use it inside my apartment Frown
