Help finding black screen video clip

Brian1 6,233 1,370 March 20, 2011 at 11:30 AM
I'm looking for a video clip of nothing - a black screen - that I can use do make a movie with Windows Movie Maker. Does anyone know where I can download one for free?

Can you just add a title screen to your Movie Maker Project and just not have any text making the background black?

record a movie on your phone or camera with your hand over the lens

put a black photo up over an extended period of time. I would think that would save a lot of drive space vs a video of nothing.

That's a great idea but I just tried it and it won't let me have the text window blank - I have to type something in there. But, even with the text and the background black, the text still has a white shadow that you can see.

Nevermind, after playing with it for a minute I chose a particular animation that makes the shadow not visible anymore.

Thanks!

Glad it worked. I think you could just do a space, and trick it to thinking there is text.

When all else works just leave the lens cap on your camera. . .

Depending on the auto settings, you might end up with a lot of video noise.

Easiest way to make a movie with all black is to make an image that's the same size as your video frame and use the paint bucket to make it all black (you can do this with Paint, by the way) and save it as a PNG. Then copy the resultant file for as many frames as you want. Use one of those automatic file naming programs (such as Magic File Renamer or something free) to name it from 1 to n where n is the total amount of frames. Finally, use a program like virtualDub to open the first image in the sequence (number one) and it will automatically import the rest of the frames (so long as they're named in sequence) then you can export the video in any format you like. Net time taken will probably be < 30 minutes.
