Lowest price I have ever seen. Especially it come with 500G HD and VGA output.
I bought a 4 channel system from their Ebay deal for $265 three weeks ago. It came with the same metal shell cameras but different design. I installed 2 of them under my roof and 2 inside of the house. They work great for the $$$! I am from New York and the weather has been pretty bad these days(raining and snowing). Its still working fine as of right now. I am using my iphone 4 with the Meye app to view the cameras from work now.
I did some research before my ebay purchase, I went to BJs and Costco to try out brands like Swann and NightOwl. It looks like that all these CCTV systems all come from 2-3 OEM factories in China, they have identical front panel with different company logo. The wires come from Zmodo seems to be more durable than the other brands. I would guess these under $1000 CCTV systems all have very similar quality. I just pulled the trigger to get another set for my 80-years-old mother-in-law. I guess its a slick deal compare with the $2000 Nanny we used to pay every month.
Also, most of these CCTV system companies label they cameras as outdoor weather proof, but once you open their user manual in the box, it usually says recommended for indoor use.
If you live in a places with lots of rain, I would not recommend you to buy any of these cameras that come with these under $1000 systems.
why not? just waterproof the cameras, wont be too hard, put a shade on top, seal the camera with plastic wrap... at the price, you can buy 4 sets to reach $1000, or a lot more cameras to just test ur waterproof method.
