How to use the .tib file?

TDKKP 153 26 March 26, 2011 at 04:00 PM
Hello,

I downloaded a .tib file of the X120e netbook but don't know how to use it. I put it on an external USB laptop drive and install Acronis True Image on my X120e but I can't clone the drive from the USB to the internal X120e: it's saying something about the drive letter when I chose to reboot the netbook. Please help!

You have to create an Acronis boot disk and boot to it to restore this image.

I once prayed to God for a bike, but quickly found out he didnt work that way...so I stole a bike and prayed for his forgiveness. Angel Not

Thanks for your reply!

I copied from other thread my problem:

Here is the list of what I did:

- Change the 5400rpm drive to a new 7200rpm one.
- Erased it with Hiren's Boot Manager because I already install Win 7 Ulitmate 64 bit on it.
- Make a bootable USB drive using Acronis True Image Home 11 I just got.
- Boot from that USB and Clone the drive from a .tib file I downloaded and put it on an external USB case.

And I think the problem is from this point on:

- After the first restart there is a message missing boot mbr and needed to hit Ctrl-Alt-Del to restart.
- The same error message every time I reboot so I hit Enter to choose the Boot options and the F11 to recover: choose the Full Recovery first.
- Restart system and the netbook is running in a loop: after "Loading Ramdisk Image", "Starting Windows Preinstallation Environment", "Please wait" and a blank white screen with and "hour glass mouse arrow" then it reboots by itself.

I tried the Custom Recovery to remove some apps with the same problem. Looks like it failed to load the first driver: video driver? Because the blank white screen with arrow and hour glass is big with some resolution like 640x480 16 colors.

Anyone has successfully using this .tib file? What did I do wrong?

Ok, you need to have Acronis installed onto a computer with a workng OS. Then, create bootable rescue media (boot CD) for acronis. Boot the computer from this CD, and connect the external hard drive with your image file on it via usb before you boot so Acronis can see both the Internal HD and your USB. Next, restore the image from usb external .TIB file to the internal HDD of notebook.

Good luck
