I was definitely very skeptical, as I don't really like artificial sweeteners usually, but it is really good stuff.

Well, I'm assuming you haven't actually tried it, because it definitely doesn't dye your mouth. In less of course, you're drinking it straight without mixing it with water.

And these "gimmicks" you are talking about (individual sticks, pre-dissolved) are for people on the go. I don't know about you, but I don't keep a 64 oz can of Iced Tea mix at work or a 3lb bag of sugar with Kool-Aid packets in my car with a gallon pitcher.

Just because they aren't useful for you, doesn't mean they are a gimmick.
