getting approved for credit cards is not nearly as hard as getting a good interest rate on a mortgage. think risking a credit line of 2,000 versus 300,000, which is the bank going to take credit history more seriously on, and which one will affect your wallet more?

Exactly! Lifetime status < Good Credit score = better opportunities for jobs that check credit score, mortgage loans, etc etc.

I agree with you. The content provides no valuable insight in "hacking" and flying for "free". You fly free with a price.

He starts with a premise that you can manipulate the frequent flyer system in order to fly free. Instead of manipulation, he's only telling you the different options you can choose from to rack up in your miles.

He suggests: (in no particular order and jogging from memory)
1) mile runs - not possible if you have full time job. Cheap tickets have requirements like you fly on a certain date sometimes landing in middle of the week.
2) routes - crazy routes still cost money
3) bump - I thought he was talking about getting a class bump, but it was getting bumped to other flights. This is for those that have time and energy to do so.
4) Segments - this is a way to qualify status with your miles program, it's not a hack
5) credit card - credit score is important.....(reason stated above)
