Yamaha YSP-3050 Sound Projector/Soundbar - $400 w/ FS

Great soundbar at a great price via Dell Small Business, or $449 w/ FS through Dell. This may expire at Midnight tonight, so act fast.

This soundbar blows away the other soundbars on the market, and if you can get it at $400, that only puts it $50 more than Sony's comparable bar(CT350), but it sounds exponentially better. Well worth the price.

Not sure what the qualifiers are for using the small business site, but here are the links to both:

Small Business:

Regular:
Dell Home - YSP-3050 Digital Sound Projector - $450 w/ FS [dell.com]

Either way, then next cheapest price is $570 via Amazon, so it's a good deal regardless which Dell site you can get it from.

It's $570 shipped and no tax for most at amazon so this is a good price. If you are in the market for a soundbar then this is definitely something to consider.

If you are going to be listening to mostly 2 channel stereo and/or regular TV programming but still want something that sounds better than your TV speakers then I would go with the visio vsb-200 for under $100. If you watch more surround sound programming then spend the extra money on the yamaha. The sony units are overpriced.

Very. I own the CT350 and can't say it was worth $350. I would return it, but it's not that bad, it's just not a substitute for true 5.1, but I knew that going in, and I didn't want to spend $1500 on the true surround setup I wanted. Maybe next year. These Yamaha's are as close to 5.1 as you can get though, and for the price, I wish I would've waited and just got this.

Maybe people are a little skeptical. Why buy something like this for $400 (+tax) when you can pick up a Klipsch quintet and 10" ref sub for under $500?

I definately agree, there are great 5.1 systems for around the same price. Soundbars are for those who either don't want to install 5.1 systems, don't have the room for 5.1 systems, or can't install them due to short term living arrangements, rental agreements, etc etc. It's a specific market, it shouldn't be mistaken for the lazy mans 5.1 solution. It should be seen as a great source of sound that is a huge improvement over stock speakers found on any media device. Plus, it doesn't need a seperate receiver since it is self powered.

Oh well, my sales pitch is over, can't say I didn't try.

My living room is small (15' X 20') which is ideal for these projectors. I have the YSP-800 and the sound without a sub was very good but was thin. I have since paired it with the YST-FSW100 subwoofer and I LOVE IT! It added all the missing detail on the low end that I couldn't pin point was missing but could tell the sound was not complete. Adding the sub to the setup was great and worth the extra money for a compact, full range, surround sound-esque setup in my living room.

I have the previous model ysp 3000. The sound is amazing if you pair it with a decent subwoofer and you HAVE the place for it. for the 5.1 experience to really be heard, you will need to close all doors and windows or place this in an enclosed room like a theater room as this system projects and bounces the sound wave around to create a virtual 5.1 sound.

ps get a subwoofer that has auto on and off.

Has anyone used an old subwoofer from another speaker set with this soundbar? I'm planning to use my a sub from my old 5.1 Cambridge Sound Works surround set. Gotta check to see if it's powered. i have this same soundbar...
it's meh-O.K. i guess. i do not think it's a true "surround" sound alternative. honestly, i feel like it's just making the tv louder, as opposed to surround sound. i confess, i used to have a complete top notch surround system so, that may be why i don't think it's really a viable 5.1. i have this thing paired up with my old M&k V-1250. that being said... it's worth 4 bills i would say
