I don't get how anyone could enjoy this on a console at all. The mods will most likely be out within a few months if the toolkit is good enough. Especially if there are dumb UI choices, which there almost always are. Those will be modded probably immediately.
I guess most people aren't concerned with that? |

Also, if anyone remembers when Oblivion first came out there were no specs that could effectively run it at max settings. It wasn't until a year or two later which that occured. I have a sneaky suspicion that will be the case with Skyrim as well. Last edited by WaltonsMountain; 04-04-2011 at 04:18 PM.. My First Build

Your point about support is well founded though. Most of today's devs could care less about PC releases, and often they neglect it. See: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1037150. In other words any Bethesda game is most likely going to be better out of the box on 360, but in my opinion the mods on the PC version should warrant just waiting a month after release and buying it on PC. Also New Vegas was developed by Obsidian, not Bethesda. |

I'd say if you're going to pick it up for the PC down the line, you might as well day 1 it on PC b/c for Bethesda based engine games, bugs will be unavoidable no matter what platform you're on |

Oh yea, I forgot it was Obsidian. Was it just financially backed by Bethesda? I know they were somehow involved...
Maybe you guys are right about the mods being available real soon. I just remember that there were so many conflicts w/ all of them in relation to each other that it sometimes made it pointless. Then things like OBMM, OBSE, Unofficial Oblivion Patch, etc. started coming out that mods actually became useful when using more than one. I also realize that the resolution would be way better on PC version then console. What i'm saying is that its going to be VERY taxing on my computer and I dont feel like upgrading right now. I know it will blow my e5200 right out of the water... I dont know...maybe i will get it for PC. I have both 360 and PS3. Which do you think it will be better on? I bet DLC becomes available sooner on 360 than PS3, as was the case with Oblivion. But I had PS3 version of New Vegas and I didn't have any of the issues that were reported on the other selections (360 and PC) Worked great right from day 1.... Immersion is unfortunately very subjective. |

im also in for ps3....my PC is mainly used for work, not for gaming anymore....and i have a home office in my finished basement - much more comfortable with the full surround sound and 42" tv in the living room than it is in the office sitting at a desk...even with the z5500 surround sound in the office....just is more fun to load it up in the living room :-)

I'm getting it on Xbox. Using a computer reminds me too much of being at work. I don't need that while I'm gaming.
I hope they improve the combat system. The combat in Oblivion was more annoying than anything. I turned down the difficulty to make sure I could kill everything in one hit. Enjoy when you can, endure when you must.

An HDTV these days is essentially a huge monitor with a tuner built in. All of the latest videocards have an HDMI out built in and most games have native 360 controller support (and yes it's as simple as plug and play). PC gaming can be done either on comfy couch or comfy desk easily.

This isn't an issue for me as I like using mouse and keyboard for pc gaming but I know this is an issue for others. Not everyone likes their computer in the living room next to the tv. |

Article posted on IGN on 4/18/11... some interesting new tidbits...
"The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is Enormous" http://pc.ign.com/articles/116/1162158p1.html "Dragons and the more formidable Draugr need to be closely watched since they both can utilize dragon shouts just like you. When unleashed in battle, you'll actually be able to hear dragons gruffly calling out words in their own language before initiating an attack, and you may even hear some dragons speak English. In these situations it's usually a good idea to take advantage of the new spell system that allows you to have two combat abilities at the ready at all time. You can mix and match weapons, have one weapon out and one spell, or equip two spells on right and left hands. You'll see the effects. too, as the magical energies of whatever's equipped ripple through your hands onscreen like BioShock's plasmids." ---------- added to wiki Last edited by WaltonsMountain; 04-20-2011 at 01:53 PM.. |
