So long as it is made to comply with JEDEC standards it should work with any system that is designed to be compatible with industry-wide standards (ie: non-apple). However, if the ram is not designed to comply with industry-standards it should be stated that it does not - otherwise it is technically defective.

However, JEDEC settings and advertised settings are not identical.

But yes, ram is ram.

Just bear in mind that sticks that advertise non-standard settings will not work at the non-standard settings on a system that lacks configuration options for those settings. (ie: a 1600MHz stick may be clocked at 1066MHz. But this is not necessarily a fault of the ram, simply configuration and thae fact that the memory was probably advertised with non-standard settings.)
