The PUBLIX thread is IMHO the best grocery store thread around heart
Here's a little chat area for us all to share info, recipes, rant's, raves and whatever else we want without clogging up the regular weekly deals thread for PUBLIX. If we want to share super deals we find in other stores or whatnot that's ok too heart

I think we all are such a great family that it's a good to have our own special place Grouphug

You can post basically anything you like in here but let's keep deals info in the actual PUBLIX thread. All are welcome and basically no major rules except be kind and courteous of other's and treat each other with respect. Other than that let's all have some fun! Also you don't have to shop at PUBLIX to share in the chat or whatnot... we like everyone.

I'll start it off...
Today I made a wonderful lunch compliments of really cheap stuff from PUBLIX.
I used 1 package of the Knorr Thai Noodles (roughly .50c) and simmered it in the College Inn Coconut Curry Chicken Stock, mixed in 1 package of the Asian Medley Birdseye Steamfresh, Squeezed a little lime juice, cilantro and a sprinkle of soy sauce & powdered ginger and finished it off with some Contessa shrimp that were tossed in the Franks Sweet Chili Sauce. It was just as good as Thai Takeout!
Oh also I stirred a tablespoon of the Honey Nut Crunch Peter Pan in the noodles when I was cooking it. It gave them more of the peanut flavor.
Yummy!
I had the last of my oatmeal from this weekend; when I get a craving for it, I generally make a big batch and eat from it for days. Quaker Steel Cut oats (never a deal on these, but I buy them anyways...usually with overage Smilie ) made with my free Smart Balance milk, then I added in a sliced up apple, raisins, blueberry flavored Craisins, a bit of brown sugar, and some slivered almonds. Tasty!

I've tried to Pomogranite Craisin's but not the Blueberry ones. Guess I'll have to try those some time.

I actually liked the pomegranate ones much better. The blueberry ones are a bit too sweet, and don't have much of a blueberry flavor. They were fine to mix into my oatmeal, since I didn't need them to stand out. They'd be fine in trail mix or whatever too...just don't expect to be wowed by their flavor if you eat them plain.

Ok maybe I'll keep skipping them then.

Lately my favorite breakfast has been Plain yogurt with the "Back to Nature" Cranberry Pecan Granola mixed in. Sometimes if the Yogurt is too tangy I'll drizzle a little honey on top. It's my new favorite yummy

My kiddos birthday party is this weekend (b-day's three days apart... have to do the party together for my sanity) and I'm baking the cupcakes and was going to also make my daughters smash cake.... After thinking about it today I might just buy it... I'm not too great with decorating and I want something that will look good for pictures.

I know that Publix gives away the smash cake if your order a cake from them but since I'm not doing that think they'll just let me buy the small one? I have never dealt with the bakery so I'm kinda clueless... any input would be appreciated.

I don't know what a smash cake is. I do have a $4/1 sheetcake PQ if you want it.

I've never dealt with that personally but have always been super pleased with everything I've gotten from the PUBLIX bakery. I'd either talk to your baker the next time you go in or give them a buzz on the phone to find out what options they offer.

The last cake I got from PUBLIX was a "Princess and the Frog" cake (before Thanksgiving) they bakery did such a wonderful job that it looked like it should have been in a book!

Today I'm just being a lazy bum! Sometimes it feels good to just lay around and recover from a busy week.
I was just moving from Wholly Guacamole that is close to the exp date into my freezer and was moving some things around and discovered a Whole Cheesecake factory cheesecake that I had forgot I bought laugh out loud
If someone would have told me that it was in there then I wouldn't have believed them laugh out loud

Whee Chat I heart it Whee

I have a rant and I think it should go in the deals thread because if it's a member they need some coupon shopping manners. I went to the Publix out on Big Bend today and NO Crunch and Clean. I went to CS and asked if they had more in the back...nope. The manager came and talked to me and told me some lady came in early this morning and completely wiped them out then ordered cases of them. Now, I have no problem with someone getting a deal..but don't clear shelves....grrrrrr Leave some for other shoppers. There are a lot of people that shop without coupons that still want to take advantage of the sale. Shelf clearers make me Mad it's selfish and rude IMO.

Then I was at another store and they had Dove deod..I got 4 and they would only take 1 Publix coupon Mad They need to get a written coupon policy in effect.

Thanks Hidn for starting this thread hug

OMG I could never forget about cheesecake. I lost 4 pounds in January so I must resist. I actually made an Oreo cheesecake for my sons school today. I so wanted to dive in and eat it. The disposible pan cost more than the ingredients did. LOL
