ACE Hardware ~$60 value 4-step fertilizer deal B&M $20 for 5,000sqft AR including gift card YMMV

I used their ACE brand last year and very disappointed. It burned some part of my lawn. I have used the Scotts for years and it has never happened to me. I am sticking with Scotts this year even it is more expensive than other brands. Even the Lowes house brand is still much better than the ACE.

While your opinion is valued as it should be in any discussion, I feel I should make a statement in defense of this product. I have used it for a couple of years with good results. The only times I have had issues is when I have been lazy and either forgotten to apply one of the steps at the right time or at all (forgot crabgrass preventer last year due to laziness ). When applied properly the results seem comparable to when I used to use Scotts products. As echoed in some review blogs on the net, the bag sizes seem a bit small for 5,000 sq ft but at these prices buy extra just in case. You can get a 4-step program that can cover 10,000sqft(ish) for essentially what it would cost for a bag or two of a single application of Scotts. Hopefully others can chime in with their experiences with the Ace product. Perhaps I am an exception to the rule but it has been a solid product for me.

Was the gift card offer mentioned in the ad for your area? I looked at the ad for my local store and didn't see any deals for the 4 step program. I don't seem to see any restrictions regarding location restrictions in the gift card offer but they could still possibly deny it. The one for the cash rebate seems to be nationwide so that shouldn't be a problem. Anyone have experience with the gift card rebate from previous years?
