Report: PS3 Passes Xbox 360 Worldwide

No they haven't.

Does it matter at this point? Even if it's true, it's not like this new revelation is going to lead to exclusive platform development.

It just doesn't add up. Last I checked the 360 still had about a 4-5 million console lead and they seem to be increasing at a higher rate lately because of Kinect. There's simply no way that Sony could match, or exceed that amount in a short period of time.

And for the record I don't really care who "wins", I only want the PS3 to get more respect from developers instead of treating it like the ugly step-child. I figured if it overtook the 360, perhaps 3rd-party devs would make it the lead, thus allowing both the 360 and PS3 version to be on par, rather than the situation we see now where the 360 version is great but the PS3 version usually suffers in some way or another.

It's not a huge deal now though as most devs have figured out the PS3 and have separate teams working to ensure both versions are on par

i dunno, PS3 finally surpassed Wii sales in Feb for japan, could be true.

VGChartz still shows the ps3 being 3.7 mil behind right now.

Who cares since Wii have officially won this round right? Right?

I'm kinda surprised by the PSP numbers. I know quite a few people with 360/PS3 but very few with PSPs. Maybe I'm too old at 25?

strategy analytics has been wrong time and time and time again. they're like Patcher. sensational headlines to generate page views and ad revenue but no real solid facts to back them up.

Doesn't suprise me. I can't even remember the last time I used my 360. Everyone I know would rather have a PS3... stability is the key to success and the 360 was anything but a stable system. And I can say that because I have both and I've went thru 3 different 360's. And I also used to be pro 360 until it started giving me loads of trouble.

The funny thing is we're only 5 years into this generation war. I take my hat off to the people at Sony. They knew what they were doing and they knew what they had. This generation of consoles lifespan will be another 10 years max. Meaning we're only 1/3 of the way thru. PS3 has taken over. Deal with it.

Pretty much everyone I know prefers the Xbox 360 to the PS3. I've only had one 360 die on me since early 2006 and that was in 2008. That system is still running fine since the free repair. The 360 is still doing great even with the stability issues of the older revisions. The only reason why I'd want a PS3 is for a handful of exclusives.

The only thing I get out of all those numbers is that the xbox team needs to find a way to break into that handheld market.
