I agree that the Xbox 360's life will be longer then the Xbox's (haha!) but to say these will last 15 years as the key console is just absolutely moronic. I do see them pushing 8-10...but going 15 leaves the door open for places like OnLive to get a foot in the door with outstanding PC like graphics with a simplistic Console like interface and cost.

People don't own both consoles yet?
Its 5 years into the lifespan. You should own all 3 of the current Gen consoles if you want the full experience. Theres plenty of exclusives on either system. Who cares what system sells more. It's not going to change companies focus and more and more games are becoming cross platform anyways. The more each console sells the more reason publishers will have to jump across platforms and place the big name games on both which is a win win for gamers. |

Whats so unstable about the 360 now? RROD's haven't really been in the problem anymore. 15 year console generation is just ludicrous. That puts the 360 successor at 2020. The HD gen has 2-3 years before the next one comes out. And congrats to Sony for succeeding in losing a ridiculous amount of money this gen so that they could go from a dominating 1st place last gen to a precarious 1st loser this gen.

i'm telling you... I see a lifespan of 15 years on these consoles. 5 years flew by, I dont see why its so ludicrous to expect them to last another 10? I definitely dont see PS4 coming out till 2020... and Xbox 720? We may see in 5-7 years but if these numbers and trends continue I definitely see PS3 as the long term winner...

At one point I had all 3 consoles and at different times I've had any 2 of the 3 depending on bills/time etc. Now I don't have enough time to justify all 3 and found that I play the 360 more than the others so that's all I have left. I really don't care if it's superior/inferior to whatever in whatever ways. It's what I like and if others hate it, then great. Why do people attach so much pride/emotion to which is "winning" or "better" I just don't see the point. Play what you want and let others do the same. |
