Deal Details

Now I do have to say it will be hit or miss on if you get the deal or not because of location participation or availability. But on APRIL 7th , a lot of the Sears stores are projected to sell off their remaining inventories of XBR9's in the 46 and 52 inch. They retail $2400 and $2900 respectively. Currently on sale for $1300 and $2000.

The 52" is harder to find. Sorry, it is impossible to get these super secret things out 100% accurately. So I decided to do just at a glance check for inventory and participating stores. Sears does not do a great job sorting store # to city so the quick research I did will involve area code of the store, the location (mall or city) and last known (stated) inventory. Yeah, I know it is a half XXX research but hey, I'm not getting paid for this! Check with your local Sears store for their inventory and price.

This is my list at a glance. Didn't have time to go through 1000 stores. There are likely to be more locations with some inventory. Just remember, not all Sears locations have the same price on clearance/discontinues. In general, they will not match other discontinue prices. If they are participating in the price changes, most of the stores will honor the register clearance price for an already tagged display model (more than likely still a very high price). The sears item number is 57 71269 for the 46" and 57 71669 for the 52". This post is very unusual in that the information is pretty much accurate and then again, it is not 100% accurate. Good luck to all. I will not check your store's inventory or check their pricing. Just give them a call or go there. Ask what a new one in the box would be. If it is $480 for the 46" and/or $735 for the 52", then that store is following the price change promo. If not, don't bother. Since previously tagged merchandise (open box or displays) are not considered normal inventory, they would not be part of the regular count. You could ask if they have an open box or check the Sears Outlet link from sears.com. VERY sweet TV. If you like it, be first in line. They will be gone before you know it. I hope all the Sears associates don't horde them all! It is an older model but the specs are still top notch! Don't worry about the (low) contrast ratio. Super sharp and I'd still consider in today's market, close to the top. Since the merchandise is discontinued, you can no longer search sears.com for specs or inventory. Have to do it the old fashioned way call or visit. Sorry if there are any errors.
One last thing, I never did mention this pricing I'm talking about generally refers to new, never out of the box unless it comes down to out of box, which is still a good deal.

THE DEAL IS REAL AND ON 4/8/2011!!

If you are wondering what the prices are at your local store, just look up either of the models on Google Shopping [google.com] and scroll down to the "Nearby Stores" section which is right below the online stores.

Price Protection Policy
Buy with confidence from Sears. If an item you have purchased from Sears goes on sale for a lower price within 14 days of your purchase, Sears will refund the difference.
To claim a Price Protection Policy adjustment, go to your original Sears store where the purchase was made with your receipt. If your purchase was made on Sears.com, please fill out a Price Protection form. You will be given a refund for the difference of the original selling price and the current advertised/reduced price. Apparel clearance merchandise and conditional “Online Only Special Offers” do not qualify for Price Protection Policy adjustments. Unless otherwise stated, promotions with a specific time window such as early open specials, one -day sales or “Online Only” events will be honored under the Price Protection policy only if the receipt is presented during the promotional time window. Deferred interest financing is not a price, and is not subject to the Price Protection Policy.

About Return/Rebuy Policy: Sears manager in San Diego said that any TV/electronics item cannot simply be returned and then immediately re-bought, it has to go through their electronics team who verifies all the components are still there/it is still the same item in the box, this whole process takes about 24 hours before the item is relisted for sale and brought back onto shelves. She said it DOES NOT MATTER if the box is open or not, so people who bought a TV early and want to go this route be prepared for a nasty surprise, obviously this is a YMMV depending on whether you get a stickler store manager or not.

I'm from the inside. You can pre-verify the info with any associate who can access future pricing through SNC or "logon menu". They can verify it if their store is having the price change. or if they can check for a store who is going to.

So I'm trying to find it on the Sears website but having difficulty with the searches in finding the models you had listed. Is it possible for non-Sears folks to do searches or is this limited to in-house search engines, (e.g., a intranet vs internet). Maybe I'm just not looking in the right spot. Thanks OP.

I believe you can't find it due to it not being a current model at this point... as OP mentioned, "Since the merchandise is discontinued, you can no longer search sears.com for specs or inventory."

I'm not sure how up to date the stock information is, but if you search for the model via Google Shopping (46 [google.com]or 52 [google.com]), then click on the "nearby stores" link, you can see if your local Sears has the TV in stock or not (ones I've checked so far do not contradict OP's counts). YMMV; again, not sure how up-to-date the info is, but interesting nonetheless! Thank you again OP.

Exactly. If there were an easier way for me to go through the corporate books and tell you where to find all the inventory, I would have done that already. Maybe not. (some would call that hacking? : )
I actually had to get creative using a couple of systems just to get the original post out. There is no way for even the insider to easily sort it out. Had to overcome store # because no consumer would know what Sears store was what number. So the easy way to do that was by correlating it to the telephone number it was associated with. Hence, that is the output of the data I put out. Even putting the whole store telephone number over all those stores could get overwhelming. Again, good luck. If I figure out anything easier for you, I'll post.

Being able to check stock via Google Shopping or the like (even though it's gone from the Sears website) is a pretty easy way for us... this is a great deal!! Thumbs up!!!

Now, I'm curious as well, how may someone know this info a day in advance? Ad set or the like...? Smilie
