Just a FYI: I wouldn't buy Farberware Stainless Steel on a bet. We received (what looked like a really nice) and expensive set of FARBERWARE stainless steel knives. After the first hand washing they started getting YELLOW and ORANGE rust. I called the company and they acted as if that was normal for STAINLESS STEEL and that I would have to return them one at a time (even though I had 6 at the time that were getting rusted) PAY FOR RETURN SHIPPING AND PAY FOR NEW PRODUCT TO BE RETURN SHIPPED TO ME. Store where they came from agreed to exchange but new set did exactly the same. BEWARE FARBERWARE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU only that they make it as difficult as possible to get anything out of them for warranty.
I just wanted to warn fellow slick dealers. This is not a nock against the store or the OP. I just found FARBERWARE extremely uncooperative and without concern about the quality of their products!

I have some old Farberware pots and pans that are great. They have copper bottoms and have lasted over 25 years so far. I think I would take that kind over the new ones.

I find it interesting that the description says "Safe for induction stovetops".

But the aluminum fry pans won't work at all with said stovetops. I have some similar stainless pots with aluminum centers, and those don't work with my induction stovetop either.

I don't trust these to be useful at all with induction...

DO NOT BUY. The skillets are non-stick coated, not plain stainless. In other words, they went cheap on the skillets to make it look like a great deal on a "stainless" set.

I think only the frying pans have teflon coating. The pots themselves don't. I have a set of farberware pots as does my mom and they last forever!

yes that is true, only the pans have non stick, according to the Amazon reviews at least.

My mom's pots are like 15 years old, possibly more. Mine are 4-5 years old. doing perfectly fine, and look like they'll last forever. just need to tighten the knobs every once in a while. My set came with a large fryer (uncoated). I also got 3 ss bowls and lids, and an 8qt pot which is a must for soups. Differnet set, but same pots. I would buy this set in a heartbeat if it would include the larger stockpot.

"Only" the frying pans? That's a major part of the set. I guess it doesn't matter to some people if you rarely do any frying, but what about the times you do and you forget it's non-stick so you use regular utensils on the surface?

Also, it's not just a question of if they last forever, it's the controversy over what the chemically treated surface is doing to long term health, especially when heated too high or scraped.

I'm making pancakes every weekend so it's a big deal to me. Must be stainless.

I'm pretty sure that Farberware is now a shell company, the name bought out several years ago. I'm still amazed at how many people look out for their products, brand loyalty for a dead company.
