Help with Amazon Prime please

10,412 5,533 September 17, 2019 at 03:06 PM
My mom has an Amazon account that she never uses except once in awhile when she needs something she has me order it for her on her account with her Amazon Visa creditcard.A couple months ago Amazon took it upon themselves to susbscribe my mom to Amazon prime. They also charged her for a movie rental that she never rented. My mom and dad do nothing with computers (my dad used to but hes too old now),they also don't have the Amazon app on their TV.

We let the Amazon prime subscripion go since it was only a trial, but my mom had to pay for the movie that we tossed up as a mistake of Amazons but to be on the safe side we changed her phone number and password on the account. After that I kept a close eye on her account for her.We cancelled the Amazon prime before the trial was over, got confirmation of it and everything was fine.

Now yesterday,Amazon DID IT AGAIN! MadThey subscribed her to Amazon Prime when she never even requested it.This time they charged her creditcard. I found out today and immediately cancelled, and it said she should recieve a refund but does anyone know why Amazon keeps subscribing her to prime when she never even requested it? I could not find a phone # to call a customer service rep. about a prime issue.

Why don't you "chat' with Amazon and explain what is going on.

I cannot find a chat that lets you talk to a rep about amazon prime. They only let you chat about specific products you order.

It's so easy to open a chat with them that it probably would've taken you less time than posting this. Perhaps Amazon is confused that your mom is the only person with a Prime credit card that doesn't have Prime.

Edit: Saw your reply. This is how I got there:

I assume it would be the same for you unless the option just isn't there since your mom doesn't have Prime. That said, it really doesn't matter what you choose. Just pick something related to your account and then go to chat and tell them you want to discuss the prime membership issue.

See if you can go on her amazon account, go to Prime membership and make sure that you cancel the membership.
Go to :Account and lists
click on: your prime membership
click on :manage your membership
click on: end membership and benefit

Maybe it was made by mistake and you need to cancel it.

When I tried that before cancelling there was no option like you have for prime.Maybe I somehow missed it.If they do it again I will see if I can find what you found.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I feel like companies are constantly trying to take advantage of my parents because they are in their 80's and 90's and they think they won't notice. My dad isn't THAT far gone yet and he has taught my mom how to write out and keep track of checks. They constantly get bills for crap they never order, and have to change their creditcards.

To most people it only happens occasionally but it seems to happen a lot to them.

Well, I cancelled it the first time Amazon made a mistake. And I cancelled it this second time they made a mistake. They sure make a lot of mistakes lately.Mad

I have never had this problem with my account, thankfully.
This is going to be annoying having to log into Amazon all the time to make sure no "mistakes" pop up.

If they never order for themselves, cancel the account and just have you do the ordering from your account. That way you know they don't accidentally click some button that keeps subscribing them to Prime.

Its not even possible for my parents to have done it.My mom has her account for a reason.I can't afford to buy some things she needs when she needs them.
