Not bad. Just make sure that any timeshare you're looking at is either on the strip (unlikely) or includes a shuttle to/from the strip. Otherwise you'll be walking (which isn't fun in the desert in July), taking a cab (rarely a SD) or taking a bus (not the worst idea, but often crowded). The timeshare mentioned (the one that includes the Cirque tickets) does have a shuttle, so that's good.

If June or July are your options, try for June. The average high in July is 104 (I was there for it last year), whereas June is a balmy 99. More importantly, it cools off more at night in June, dropping to 72 instead of 78. Obviously, the best idea is to stay inside. Also, look into the monorail pass for the length of time you're there - much cheaper than a cab, faster/more reliable than a bus, and, of course, air conditioned. It only hits the east side of the strip, but that's not so bad.

If you decide to get a regular hotel, midweek will definitely be cheaper - rates often double or more on the weekends. The crowd more than doubles, as well, so if you're looking for peace rather than a party, midweek is for you. Here's a good place to start when you're looking at hotels:

Also, be aware that many Vegas hotels charge a resort fee of $8-20/day. There's no way to have that waived, and it will almost never be listed when you're first comparing hotel prices, so do your research [lasvegasresortfees.com].
