Yeah, I tried it once, and then realized that by jumping though all the hoops, I managed to save almost a dollar off of three tickets after the service charge. I can save 10-15 minutes by just walking up and buying a ticket at the counter. Then again, my local movie theater is practically never sold out. In fact, I hate going to a full theater, so I'd be unlikely to even want to go to a show where I had to vie for tickets to get in. Yes, I'm old. Now get off my lawn.
$25 worth of Fandango movie tickets for 20 bucks isn't a good deal.
We've had Fandango tickets (up to $12) on sale at Groupon for $4 each.
Even last night their was a Fandango ticket to Rio 3D up to $17.50 that cost only $3.
Gilt City had a deal for $4 and you received 2 tickets up to $28.
The good thing about Fandango is theaters aren't strict on enforcing you to see any particular movie. So even if you're required to schedule a movie through a promo you can change the selection right at the counter with no problems. I've done this numerous times and had zero issues.
I am never afraid of a show selling out but I am afraid of dealing with the clerks who sell tickets. I live in the city and AMC has a line that can be up to thirty minutes to get through. The people who sell tickets are ill informed and inept and the people who are buying them are self-absorbed and moronic (how many times have I sat there while some idiot asks what each film is about while the lines gets longer). I buy 80% of my tickets at Fandango for these reasons. If you live in a more rural area, you might not understand why people wouldn't just buy them in the theater, but trust me, it's worth a dollar or two (and I'm super cheap) to not have to deal with the hassle of dealing with cashiers, lines and your fellow movie goers.

I have no idea what this is saving from walking up to the ticket counter and buying 4 tickets. Could you give more detail? I may jump in.
The past 6 movies I've taken my wife to, I haven't paid NEAR full price for. Whether it be Gilt City, Groupon, or random Fandango codes I get through odd promotions, I'm always paying next to nothing just because I'm using Fandango, rather than going up to the ticket counter.
So if you're not going to be using any special codes or getting it any cheaper, then the only benefit you're getting is not having to talk to the ticket counter person or wait in line to get your tickets. Also, not waiting in line adds to the special factor when taking someone on a date.
