Pictures for Passport

centosltib 27 14 April 18, 2011 at 02:12 PM
I would like to take pictures for Passport/Visa. I know Costco is doing it for $4.99 for two pictures. Would they give me the soft copy of the (2.5 inches * 2.5 inches) picture on a CD or so?

I don't even think that they have this capability, but you can always ask.

No - they take them with a polaroid-type camera from what I remember. Not digital.

Agreed with Jeffbx. And, I believe most (if not all) places do the polaroid-type camera, as I think passport pictures normally utilize a special camera (at least used to).

Once you have them, if you have (or have access to) a scanner, you could just scan them into your computer and if needed, burn them on a CD.

Ask someone to take a photo for you

then go to walmart or costco and ask them to make that photo passport size.

in that way you will have a digital copy also

I agree and recommend the link above. I recently went through the passport process and even though 'two' places I went to took 'ok' photos, I really wasnt happy with the picture. As a last resort I tried making my own through epassportphoto.com, and was pleased with how they came out. The photos I made turned out better than the ones I paid for at both places I went to. Anyway, I 2nd the link for epassportphoto. Their step by step process makes it pretty easy to make your own passport photos.

Also here are some other thoughts...
1) The two places I went to use what they call a 'digital camera' this is a more modern day camera to what several others have referred to as a "polaroid"! Smilie OMG do businesses really use Polaroids? J/K Costco needs to get with the recent technology! Smilie Seriously though, both places I went to used their own 'in house' digital camera. It wasnt an expensive camera by any means. If you have a decent 'digital' camera, I suggest try taking your own, before paying someone else to do it.
2) FYI US Passport photos must be 2" by 2" not 2 1/2 x 2 1/2. Check this link for more information: http://travel.state.gov/passport/..._5333.html
3) If you go to Costco or any other store for your photos, and, they use a 'digital camera' have them take a few photos and let you decide which one you want to use.

Good Luck, And Happy Trails to You! Smilie
