Shaw's Supermarket Chat Thread

This thread is being created for the OT chat that goes into the Shaw's Deals thread. We are a chatty bunch and have become an extended family. I heart the OT chat, but agree that sometimes we just want to read about the deals. So hopefully this thread will help decrease the OT in the deals thread and we all have a place to chat with each other.

Yes, I follow the FIFO method of inventory so that is bound to happen.

LOL, I do too, but not apply to the Mr. here, he just grabs whatever is easy to get, he won't bother to get the one at the bottom or the one in the back...

I know this is not a big deal in the scheme of things, especially with all of the people here that are sick, hurt, etc... (Get well wishes to all of you!!!!!!! )

But this week so far has not gone well...

I'm still in the rental from the car that was totaled by a walmart truck... which has to be returned tomorrow since they just paid out for the car - now just have to buy another decent car with the money.

Saturday morning, my DD was driving MY car since I have the rental, and she was on the way to work and spun out around 6:30 am on the highway. Hit a snowbank, and crashed my jeep! It runs, but has damage. Frown Was excited about getting it back today!!!!! Well, now I have to go to the rental place and get a new rental while that gets fixed. And I get to pay $500 deductible!!! yay!

This morning, after I went to work, there was an accident in front of my house and my mailbox / granite post was broken in half! No note or anything, just a lot of broken car pieces in the snow, but my friends son happened to go by and saw the accident. So I have a call into the police to find out what happened. I have to wait and see what the police report says so i can find out who is gonna pay to fix it. Frown

And to top that off, we just got the letter saying my husbands first attempt at SSDI was denied. So, now have to appeal, get a lawyer, whatever...

That is not a good Monday...sorry you had a bad day plus the car and SS stuff geezz too much. If you need a lawyer that has done SS before lemme know...the woman that did ours was awesome. She is in Concord but she has a little one, last I knew she did part time.We didnt have to put any money down, we did have to pay for photocopying of records but I think that is standard. I think she filed the appeal for DH if I remember correctly

Sorry about your car troubles. As for SSDI, almost always they deny the first time, trying to weed out those who may be trying to scam the system. Most attorneys will handle the appeal on a percentage basis and only charge for actual expenses. If you have any knowledge of the legal system and your husband's problems, you might want to consider handling the appeal yourself. I did this for my former partner (wish I hadn't - he was a jerk, plus I turned down the 30 or so % the judge said I was entitled to - I should have taken it, LOL!) and won the appeal.

The roads are OK her (it was icing this morning but now it's just rain) so I did a RA run. Plenty of Stax still on the shelf, along with the .50 MM BodiHeat and the .01 MM (LOL) RA fabric softener sheets. Remember to get a price check on the softener- it's the 80 ct. box that is .99 with $1 +UP back, but it's not ringing in at .99 at all stores.

Thanks for that info! I would like to try it myself, and then if i lose the appeal, hire a lawyer. Can you do that? Or are you only allowed one appeal?

Lance Tillinghast in Dover. Didn't charge either of my parents until they won, took his cut from the back check and had the rest sent over that day or ready for pickup. They both won first attempt and he is VERY well known in the disability courts.

DH is having a cranky morning. Not sure if I want to go out and deal but I've already had to clear the ice, take dogs out and I sprained/strained something in my heel last night so its kind of painful to walk....but I want lightbulbs.

Another suggestion, if your dh has any private LTD insurance, contact the company to file yoru appeal. They have experts. I hate that we have to pay lawyers to get benefits due us.

Thanks, greenie, prayres coming yoru way, too.

I didn't go out at all today. Treated myself to a Banana Colada Fuze (kami's fault) and soem Chex mix this afternoon. Are Chex mix on sale for $1 @ RA, too? I'm planning a run out tomorrow to snag some of the last-day freebies, if there are any left around. Just resting today, recovering from school vacation. EEK!

Where are we supposed to be watching for swagbucks? I feel like I'm missing out on lots of goodies Frown

...snip..
I have to agree it sucks to pay to get what you deserve, but based on the number of people denied over and over again (even with a lawyer like KMM) I have to say it was worth every penny my parents paid. They even dealt with my mom having PTSD in court as well as the office, which can be difficult.

Yes, he has LTD and was approved until June. SSDI sent him to a doc and they were waiting for the results from his doc visit. It's definately in LTD's best interest that he gets approved for SSDI, because then their part will go significantly down. If i go through them for the appeal, do I pay a lawyers fee still? Their lawyers?

Thanks everyone for the help !!!
