Just saw this, credit goes to Ron1 at myfico forum.

The old AMEX blue cash card has a $6500 tier before you can get 5% cashback on groceries, and now here is something new:

Press Release [americanexpress.com]

1. Blue Cash Everyday
No AF, no minimal spending requirement, 3% at supermarket, 2% gas/department store 1% everything else
$50 Bonus for spending $250 on the first 90 days. Use the link below to apply.

2. Blue Cash Preferred
$75 AF, no minimal spending requirement, 6% at supermarket, 3% gas/department store, 1% everything else.

$100 bonus for spending $500 on the first 90 days. Use the link below to apply.

For current AMEX holders, you can product change to the new card, but your old card has to be opened for at least 13 months. Seems the 13 months restriction applies to the Preferred card only since it has AF. If you're about to get Blue Cash Everyday, call and ask.

Edit:
Ron1 posted a link for $50 bonus cash back for bluecash everyday card.

According to the AMEX website, there is no minimum spend required.

someone reported that 6500 threshold still applies, better call amex and confirm before applying
Update: Chatted with CS rep, no 6500 threshold applies (Post 99)

On the current card after the first $6500 you get 5% on Gas, Grocery and Drugstore and 1.25% on everything else.

Unless they change the program I will stick with that.

I have been meaning to sign up for an amex card.

Extended Warranty seems very useful.

Someone should do a cost/benefit analysis on these cards!

This is actually much worse than the old Blue Cash card as fredfredfred points out. Upon seeing this, I'm now worried that my 5% on groceries/gas/drugstores and 1.25% back on everything else is going to go away...

Thanks I'll look into it and see which one comes out best based on spending. I've had Blue Cash for years and usually end up with about $1000 at the end of the year in cash. I've also used it for accident protection and been reimbursed with no hassle. I also got some great concert tickets from AMEX presales......

Despite the 75 fee, the 6-3-1 card is actually a better deal since there is no minimum spend needed. Just do the math.

How can a current cardholder change to a new one? Phone call, I assume?

Does anyone want to chime in about which AMEX card makes sense if you're not going to use it very often?
I get pretty good rewards on my VISA, so the AMEX would only be for warranty and maybe travel.
estimated- $2000/year on the card

EDIT: it looks like the old blue cash is gone...
I guess blue cash everyday is the only one worth considering now..
Hrm..

Does anyone know if there is a minimum cashback amount?
In that case, it might make more sense to use the points ones..
